it's not the color of the bulb..but if u use too high wattage ones, they will burn ur harness to crisp..

I probably just had good luck or something, cause I ran 110watt H4s in my 2000 Maxima when I had it back 2yrs ago and them bulbs ran for almost 8months before one blew out. Still no wires burned, or the headlight assembly or the socket.

Like I said, my brother is a EE and he told me there is no way the wires can burn to a crisp cause that gauge can handle 3times the amount of normal wattage. Something else happened that caused that wire to burn to a crisp. I aint trying to flame, but like I said, my brother is a EE and he does this at his work all day, he tests the rating of wires.

Just go with the brand name bulbs like Polarg or PIAA with the standard wattage and you should be all set. It will give you the nice cool look in the lights and no burnt wirings.

oh the agony!! one of my hyper h4's burnt my harness. guess i know what i'll be doing tomorrow. i'm gonna check to see how much a new connector or harness is going to cost... and new bulbs. i was using 85/80. and worse yet.. i just checked my fogs, and they're 100w:eek: what the F*CK was i thinking, not paying attention to the damn wattages?? they h4's lasted me almost a year. i just got the h3's:bawling:

i'm just going to upgrade the wiring harness to aftermarket ones so i can handle the highter wattages. HID's are too expensive for me right now.. just got tires and rims:(

What was your wattage? You were probably running too high, and that can fry the harness.

kafene Feb 7, 2002 06:42 PM

i was running 85/80 H4's for the headlights

my dealer parts guy said nothing over 65 unless i have an aftermarket wiring harness. i told him i had 100w for my fogs, but he said for some reason, he's never had those burn out, so they should be fine... it's just the headlights.

he was going to order the aftermarket wiring harness (i think APC H4 harness), but it's back-ordered 'till march.

going to start calling courtesy and tustin nissan tomorrow. he said it's around $69. or i could have a place he knows to do it for about $100.
