You Know Your Exhaust is Loud When.....

You know your exhaust is loud when you start your car in a parking lot and the car next to yours alarm goes off. I just sat there laughing. Haha. Anybody else have some good exhaust stories?

Nice idea for a thread

That's funny , what exhaust setup do you have?

I'm full cattman setup 3". My wife tells me she can hear me driving up the road approaching our house.....that's not really funny though. Best I've got is when I was at tires plus (yeah don't ever go there) the guy either wasn't good at stick or just had a heavy foot, and when he put it into reverse before letting out the clutch he floored it. It was really loud and the whole shop stopped what they were doing for a sec and looked around.....was kinda funny seeing everybody's heads look up at the same time, especially in a shop where they're used to loud noises.

Echos in enclosed parking structures can also give people a nice scare.

One time mine whent in to hotrod mode fora few months. the clamp that clamps the muffler to the pipe rusted through, we welded the pipe directly to each other but, i'm kind of sorry cause it sounded good with no muffler.

Nice stories! The one where the little girl yells and grabs her mom is priceless. I've got OBX headers, 3" high flow cat, and a 3 inch BRM catback with the muffler that BRM sends with it, but opted out of the resonator and got my own 18x6 magnaflow resonator. My friends say they always know when I pull up to their house when they hear my car coming down the road. The best is when you're on the highway and then letting off the gas, sounds like someone shooting a rifle.

I got off of work one afternoon and hit the gas pretty hard while heading down the street to a red light a couple weeks after I got my exhaust setup finished. To say the least, I cleared the street and crosswalk of pedestrians. Half of them didn't even see me coming, they just heard the noise and split. Between the buildings it would have been really loud. I felt kind of bad for scaring everyone though. I just had to laugh afterwards when I gently came to a stop at the light. It works well to clear the Jay walking homeless in my city as well.

I have the BRM 3" setup with 2 resonators, one which I replaced the cat with. The popping and growling is awesome. I've had it called the growl mobile a few too many times. I will say that setting off car alarms is pretty satisfying. I try not to be obnoxious with it though.

On your note Isaac, it's nice to not have to text your friends or go to the door when you get to their place. They just know. My family says that when I'm gone, my cats check out the window everytime they hear a loud car, expecting me. Funny how that works.

Smelly and loud after 2,000 rpm

The problem isn't necessarily speed with hondas. A K20 hybrid puts down power in a go cart. Every 4 banger they make sounds like ***. You cannot make the exhaust decent. You can spend all the money you want and no resonator or muffler will ever help them to sound good.
If you quiet them down enough, then it becomes merely ok.

A rice cannon welded to the stock exhaust on a maxima sounds great, but it doesn't work for hondas.

Have you heard a properly done s2000? That's way to broad a statement especially considering how good the k series is.

Honda= stupid fart can that adds no power and makes the tiny little engine sound like a lawnmower.

Nissan= fully bolted intake and exhaust making 300 or so horsepower at the crank beating most cars on the road. And also that sounds like a diesel truck at idle and low rpms and a race car at high rpms.

There's probably like 20 Honda Ricers: 1 Nissan Ricer... Lots of well done Hondas out there just have to look plus tons of mods / cheap parts out there too..

Went through a tunnel today for the first time since I modded my car. Damn it sounded awesome. I reved it up a bit more than twice and had the windows rolled down. The look on my kids faces was priceless
