Need Some Serious Help
So today I had the pleasure of experiencing getting my car broken into. The chicken ****ers didn't steal anything, but tried to steal my car. They ripped out parts of my ignition, and I don't know a damn thing about the parts they broke.
Can anyone help me identify these parts so I can go about repairing them? Any help is appreciated.https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/maxima....dcadf72b3f.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/maxima....3ad891c9c4.jpg |
show thos pics to a parts guy is ur best bet,
but i can tell you the one is the ignition key ring. that will help you start, and i am sure once u locate it you can get the rest from adjanceies , diagrams, or maybe it all comes together. idiots had no idea maximas need a computer chip in the key to start the engine.. |
I know, it only provides a headache for me.
Another update: The Copper ring piece seems to be the part that reads my key, because the engine will crank, but not turn over. I need to identify this piece. Also, if i were to replace the whole cylinder, would I then need to re program a new key? Thanks |
Case Closed... I think.
I did some more digging and found out the problem to be the busted black ring of copper, as suspected. I took apart the covering of the steering wheel and found out it is connected to a little black box called the "Immobilizer" or NVIS system. I need to replace it (seems only a dealer has it) at around $170. This is also gonna cost me to reprogram a key fob. Loving' Life rn. |
i think you are on the right track, i am guessing here, someone may chime in, but to me that makes sense new cylinder with new keys.....
i would call a dealership and see what they say by the book, and then go to a napa or aftermakert part place with your proper info. best of luck , this is a *****. courtesy nissan may help you over phone too, just find the right helpful entity, and I am sure you will be on your way. keep us posted ! maybe search if anyone else had this problem too there has to be something slightly relating to this whole cylinder replacement |
You can buy NDSll pc software buy a obdll cable for about half that and reprogram the key yourself! :baller:
Edit: is your car riced out? Why would they try to take a 16 yo,grocery getter? |

Okay so as of a couple hours ago I fixed it completely. I had to replace (what I now learned to be) the immobilizer antenna, which rests on top of the ignition cylinder. The only place I could find one was the dealership for $170, and that was with asking the sales rep to work with me on the price. Anyways, I got home, had to take off all of the plastic covering around the steering wheel to get to the cylinder. It all took but 2 mins to replace. What sucked was that I had to get my key reprogrammed, the cheapest locksmith near me was $100.
But, I'm glad to have it over with! and @nestorlugo, it has a sleek appeal to it, its all black, and black leather interior, in good condition, but its a ***** here in Phx at 110 degree weather. |
glad ur back on the road, sorry about the pos scumbags, too bad they are smart enough to pick a car they can actually take.
