outside temp reads ICY and ----° degrees?

So I finally figured out why my climate control was acting funny. I never hooked up the plastic tube that connects to the ambient temperature sensor for the vehicle.
Now I have another problem; as soon as I put the gauge cluster back in and the dash trim back together, the outside ambient temperature sensor on the gauge cluster reads ICY and the temperature reads ---- ° degrees.
Double checked all my connections and everything is fine. Anybody ever had that issue before?

It happened on my old car; it would read temps way below what it actually was. Replacing the sensor fixed the issue.

Well I restarted the car this morning after it sat all night and it appears to be reading the correct temperature again. I wonder if it's because I started the car with the gauge cluster partially plugged in
