5.5 Gen Maxima?? Can't Find

I live in the Houston area and I'm having difficultly find any 02/03 Maximas. In such a large city, I expected these vehicles to be ubiquitous. Lost my 2000 Max and was looking for a replacement but no luck via EbayMotors, AutoTrader, and Craigs

Sorry that you have difficulty finding one since the 5.5 I have seen around were at the scrap heap since those motor were notorious with oil burning due to cheap piston rings and a lot of people unaware checking their oil, motor seized up when they either ran it too low or dry. Additionally mileage is another factor that people ran to most I see at 200k miles before motor quit and cost of motor exceed the value of the car once again headed to the scrap yard where people can not justify fixing it. Keep looking through as autotrader, eBay etc I'm sure there something gonna turn up for sale.

Availability seems to run in cycles. When I crashed my 2000 a year ago, there wasn't much available. Today there are a lot of cars for sale, although I wouldn't touch half of them.

Maybe look for an I35? unless you're looking for manual only.

Yeah...looking for a clean well kept vehicle; in terms of looks, the 5.5 version is my fave; no timetable since I already have a daily driver

These cars are now 13-14 years old so if you want a clean well kept 5.5 Gen you'll either have to be patient or consider purchasing out of state & having it shipped.

Another option is to look for a high mileage 5.5 w minimal rust, which shouldn't be a problem in TX, and swap the motor w an hr. Can be under 3500 total w that strategy and a car that will last a long time.

I have a 2K and always wanted the 5.5, but after having my 7th gen also for about a month, I'm really happy I went this route instead. How much are you looking to spend? I would upgrade bro unless I never drove the new ones yet and can understand why then.....whole other animal lol. You did say thats your favorite one (5.5 gen)... you're looking at at least 5K for a nice one with low miles and well kept IMO.....for that much I would go 7th gen and not look back.....good luck.

I live in Houston as well, what is your price range?

also, are you looking at an auto or 6 speed?

Find a G35 with the VQ35HR (07-08 for sedans) or the G37

If you are sticking to a AT then find the G35x or G37x
If you are considering a MT then you will be stuck with RWD but find the sport package so G35s or G37s

What's the point of FWD in Houston?
