Car NOT Starting

Hello,

Recently my car stalled in traffic. it stalled right after I started moving from a stop sign. Now it will not start at all.

The battery seems ok - lights turn on, radio works.

Attached is the noise the car makes when i try to turn the ignition on.

please, kindly let me know if you have ideas about what might be the problem.

cheers, Noela

Check all your fuses, and the ENG CONT1 fuse in the fuse box by the battery in particular. Does the car only stall when you try to move/accelerate? Does it idle OK?

Actually, sorry for not being so clear. the car stalled once, and then will not start again. So no idles at this time.

Should i still check the fuses mentioned?

Yes. Check your fuses.
If no idle, check them twice.

I would see if fuel is an issue. Do you hear the fuel pump prime for a second or two when the key is turned?

Listening to your mp3, it sounds like the engine is cranking.

Is the red security light in the clock on while you are trying to start the car?

Yes, the engine does crank, and the red security light does come on while cranking (I have to double check on this).

on two occasions, (an hour after the car stalled) I was able to start the car, after repeated cranking. Once i turned it off, I was unable to start it again. it just cranks repeatedly, as you can hear in the mp3.

thanks - noela

If the red security light is coming on, NATS immobilizer is being activated and prevents the car from starting. Definitely double check this.
