Recommendations for used motors.

I would like to know if anyone has dealt with used motor companies online. I'm searching for a low milage VQ30de-k for my 01 maxima SE. I'm open to local-ish people near Oklahoma.

Don't be afraid to have one shipped. It's not that expensive to have one shipped via freight.

Have either of you had any problems with the motor conditions being anything other than stated? I want a clean low-ish mileage motor that still in good condition and im willing to pay for it.

Best way to avoid bad motors is buy the lowest mileage engine you’re willing to pay for. Sometimes they have pictures of the car, check to see what type of accident it was in. If there is zero damage, it’s possible that the engine was the reason it was totaled.

I've swapped in a fair amount of used motors when I worked in a shop. As far as I recall they've all been good. The good news is the 3.0 is a tough bird with no natural weaknesses or regular issues. As long as it's not been overheated or run dry it's very rare for them to have issues. Despite what many of us here do, most of these cars are driven by old ladies who've never taken them over 4,000 RPM.

You can talk to the salvagers on car-part and ask them about the motor. They'll tell you if the car ran when it came in and confirm the mileage.

You can also talk to one of the larger salvage yards in your town and have them find one for you. They're nearly all connected and can find whatever you need and have it shipped to them. That way you'll have a local warranty and can inspect it before accepting it. Many of these places do business with each other all the time and wont sell each other junk. I think this is the best way to guarantee quality. It may cost a little more than the cheapest ones out there but not by much. These guys sell to each other at wholesale.

I see them hanging in mileage from $200 to $600 all the time. There's always the "I know what it's worth guys" and the high ballers of course. Check the Facebook market, Craigslist, and the pulla pick grabba parts junkyards as well. They tend to range in mileage but also tend to have a variety. The one near me sells a fuel injected engine whole package $275 with $75 core. Block only $150.58 with a $50 core... Just saying.

I'm sure there's a similar place within reasonable distance should all else fail...
