Power steering belt tensioner
anyone know how to replace it?? I thought I could reach and unscrew the top bolt but I was wrong. Must be a nut on the other side and I’m not sure the easiest way to access it. i went to change the belt since I’m squeels but the tensioner screw is broken. Already have the new part. thanks in advance |
There is write up's and you tube videos all over for it. If you have the part then you should be able to tell how it comes off. I just changed it with my alternator last week.

I must be slow. I see write ups for the tensioner up too in the engine bay but that is for the alternator belt. I can’t see where I have access to the power steering belt. guess I’ll keep searching |
Here is a video on changing the power steering pump belt. It shows how to loosen the tensioner, so maybe you can get enough info to change it.
|
Key to it is that you must loosen the 14mm bolt behind the pump before messing with the tensioner
|
Belt is loose or squeals, b/c it's junk? If it's tight enough...
...then you can just cut the old one off and crank the new one on with a screwdriver. |
Nope the belt squeels because it is loose. I can not tighten it because the longer tensioner bolt is snapped. Just one of those things I will have to figure out. |
