Can not bleed maxima ,i think i need to cycle ABS

Does anybody know of a way to autobleed the ABS pump. Without having the dealer do it.

People use the Autel maxicheck pro to do it on domestics.

Wonder if it will work on nissans.

Anybody go through this problem? Any ideas?

Will the datascan 2 cycle the ABS? ,because that's all i need.

No, computer **** is too old, so NDS2 can't connect to it. ABS shouldn't be a problem unless you really ****ed something up (like replacing it lol).

I drained the fluid out of the car 100%.

And no matter what i do i can't bleed the car. Went through a gallon of brake fluid.
Fluid pumps out of the bleeders with no bubbles. but it still only has about 5% brake force.
I have bled these for over 15 hours.
Once air gets in the ABS pump regular bleeding will not work.

What was changed? Or what made you have to bleed your brake system?

This is just like bleeding a brake system w/o ABS! Did you happen the change your brake pads and use the C-Clamp method to push the caliper piston back into the caliper? If you did I hope you opened your caliper bleed screw while doing that? If not you blew your ABS pump seals and this my be your issue! If not start with bench bleeding the master cylinder first or you may have a defective Master Cylinder that is only working in the 2nd stage of operation (that's almost to the floor)....

I drained 100% of the fluid out of the system. removed all the calipers and push all the fluid out.

In my other thread in the 5 th gen forum kind of explains what i was doing. I pretty much stripped the car.

I put a new master cylinder on thinking it was that but it is not.

The car is at a nissan dealer ,right now. I will probably find out the problem,fri or mon.

Auto mechanics 101, Never drain all of your hydraulic fluid, or allow it to get air in the system...what were you thinking!

Yeah, you can do that on the car with a couple fittings and pieces of hose.

I've also had calipers just take a **** when replacing pads. Had to do 6th gen bbk for brakes to work.

You might want to invest into a pressurized or vacuum powered bleeder....Next time.

I replaced calipers, brake lines, master cylinder and couldn't get working brakes till 6th gen bbk It's a finicky system.

dealer ,still hasn't fixed it, but they put a new master on and it didn't do anything.

Will a bad ABS pump,allow the car not to be bleed?

ABS pump is a closed box that pulsates. You would not think so. It would have to be leaking.

I had this problem on two other vehicles. One it was two bad master cylinders in a row. Swapped didn't work. The dealership checked everything again. Still nothing. Said f+&k it and I'll start over. Put in another new master and it worked.

Second time was the vacuum booster.

was at the dealer for a week they checked everything.
They called nissan ,talked to one of their master techs. They said abs pump actuators. Fluid gets pumped through abs ,then goes to calipers from there. When actuators,close up it can send fluid in a loop back to the master.

I put a new master on and they put a brand new nissan OEM one on. And they checked the vacumm booster.

When the car is off the pedal is hard and firm. Only drops ,after car starts.

I paid $600 and then took the car home. i ordered a very low mile abs pump. if that doesn't work i will get a booster

Yeah it pumps in bursts. I didn't think of the actuators staying closed. So they are saying when the abs closes the system can send fluid back to the master? Well of course it does. That's not a revelation. If the actuators stayed closed then pressure would not build up between the pump and calipers. Only between the pump and master. The fact that it stays with the car off seems to say something is telling the pump to lock up (not intentionally). So disconnect the wiring harness to the abs and see what happens. Use a stethoscope and listen to the pump and see if it activates as soon as the car starts. It should not. If it works correctly without the electrical hooked up then it's a sensor or the pump. Then start the troubleshooting process to determine which.

i figured our the problem .Too bad the dealer didn't notice it

Front calipers on backwards. I can't believe i didn't notice it until today.

Now i need the lines in the engine bay.they are ruined going to the ABS unit. 3 go from there a short distance to the proportion unit on the firewall the other goes straight to the front left caliper. Any ideas where to get them?

Time to get a refund. Could make your own lines easily with some nicopp. Flaring would be cake, b/c of the malleability.

krismax, thanks for posting this so others can learn. I was just in the same situation as you. Replaced the master cylinder, about to start messing with the abs or bring it to the dealer, when I came upon your thread. I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate you following up on here. I had the calipers switched. I hope your Nissan is still running after all the problems you had.
