will 3.0 obx headers fit the 3.5???
So, the one thing that I've been dreading the most is now here, my precats are rattling very very bad and the car wont go past 60 mph. I've decided to go the headers route, but I cant see myself spending $600-$700 for the OBX V2's. I was also considering Altima headers with a custom y pipe but I came across this interesting thread where multiple people claimed that the obx headers for the 3.0 will actually fit the 3.5, the only difference is that the y-pipe has unequal lengths. Can someone please CONFIRM that it will indeed fit without major modifications. Those headers are going for $300 and seem like a much more economical choice.

Yes, the OBX 3.0L headers will fit. Those headers are notorious for the y pipe flange (between front and rear banks) not lining up. Be prepared to cut and weld.
General notes when using 3.0 headers on a 3.5:
General notes when using 3.0 headers on a 3.5:
- 3.0 has and EGR Bung, 3.5 does not. This port will need to be blocked off.
- 3.0 uses a different style exhaust hanger on the ypipe, then 3.5. You will need a new one welded on the y pipe to match your chassis.

Thanks, I've seen t6378tp's 3inch y-pipe and it looks great, I just messaged him for a price quote. But can you explain why I shouldn't bother with the Obx? Is the fitment/performance that bad?

Fitment can be bad, flex section is crap and many have them crack after a while. I saw a set with several cracks all around the flanges that bolts to the engine. I'm sure you can save a couple hundred, but is it worth redoing later? The altima ones are made pretty good for chinese stuff along with a better design (collectors are 100x better).

holy hell i'd wish i known all that a few years ago when i bought mine. you do mean just the flex section right, not the header flanges? can't the flex section be raplced at a competent muffler shop or with some cutting and welding?

Primaries crack at the flange on a lot of them (which I'm sure is exacerbated by no hanger on the Y). Yes, flex is simple to replace if an idiot can weld half ***.

If you type “altima headers” into google, you will find them. They are the headers for the 3.5 altima, 02-06. As already stated you will have to cut and reweld them or else they will not fit. They are not bolt on. If you want bolt on, pay OBX’s highway robbery price for ones that have minor fitment issues, or stalk the forums for someone selling cattman headers.
