Bose Radio Signal

Does anyone know what does the processing between the amp and radio? Is it the head unit or the amp? Second part of this is does the disc changer send the signal back to the HU?

I'm modding (having someone else) a factory HU to be the remote control for my Minidsp 8x12. I would like to add a digital input to the HU as well. This would be possible and quite easy if the disc changer sends the signal to the hu because it would be digital, therefore I could hijack it and use that as my auxiliary input control. I looked at the FSM but I didn't see the answer.

plenty of folks running aftermarket double dins with the stock system bose amp included, so i'd lean towards the HU? i don't know squat about no disc changer. mine came with a single CD but, i have a later Gen stock 6 disc in it now and the changer is INSIDE the HU.

I have a Sound Monitor 500 DTA and Icd in it now. I just think it will be cool to have the factory HU in there with Bluetooth and controlling my DSP.

The disc changer has a cable that connects to the HU. The HU outputs line-level output to amplifiers for each speaker, and each speaker is a 1 ohm impedence speaker which may not work well with most aftermarket HUs. There is an adapter available to use an aftermarket HU with the factory Bose amps, but you may not be happy with the performance.

In my case, I just replaced everything...all the speakers and added subwoofers with amplifiers for each. Wasn't cheap but the car pounds out the jams big time now!
