Car with Similar Comfort (Lumbar Support) as 02 i35 / Maxima?
Hey Guys, unfortunately looks like I will need to be selling my 2002 i35 (basically a Maxima) soon. The transmission has started slipping and Ive been told by a shop to just get rid of it. I hate to get rid of this car because I LOVE it, especially how comfortable it is. Lumbar support is superb, better than any Jeep or other car Ive driven. Does anyone know a car with similar support? Its orobably most important aspect of buying a new car because Im in my car a LOT. Probably looking for basically a newer Maxima / Infiniti sedan (max ~$5-6k) that blends in well, NOT a sports car because I knock doors for a living and a discreet car is ideal. Thanks in advance guys.

There's a car customization shop in my town that will do whatever to your oem seats to upgrade them..I'm sure you could find a shop in your town that does the same
BUT, I agree with Schmellyfart
If there's little to no rust it sounds like it might be a keeper vs buying a newer car

Do you really think I should replace the transmission? Can you even get them new? I would prefer new vs used. I think that would cost around $3-4K. The car is only worth that. And it has some cosmetic damage, bumper is hanging off on one side where some kid hit me and also damaged the headlamp (seems to expensive to replace). Engine has 200k on it and sometimes ticks when oil burns out through it. Should I really keep it?? This seems like a separate thread

Trade it! Just posted in your other thread, car isn't even worth $1000 private party sale, add in transmission problem you'd be lucky to get $700 for it. Trade it for whatever they will give you and get something fresh. Also, you need to raise your budget or you're going to be back where you started, a car that needs too many repairs more then it is worth. Warrantee is key here...you would be surprised what you can get into now a-days if you get savvy. There are $12000 cars with a decent bit of warrantee left, and very low miles...you just gotta get out there and look.

You're problem here is you're trying to budget around a simple dollar amount. You may find a base model low mileage car with a small warrantee left for around $6-8, but if you want a little comfort, a little style and some bellz, that car will have excessive miles for the same price. What you need to do is figure out what kind of car gives you the most value, get on Autotrader for a few hours, and just poke around with the search feature curtailing to where you want to be comfort and pricewise, mileage, perhaps warrantee, even certified. You'll see what I mean when it comes to bumping it up a little.
Use this link at the end of my poste, or similar to calculate out the door price with interest and how many months, you'll see you can manage something if you find the right reliable car, one that you can have some piece of mind will run without issue for at least the time you are making payments. Just for instance, $12,000 at 5% for 5 years is a $226 monthly payment. Cut that to 4 years, it's $276. Figure a rebuilt transmission on this car is $2800 with a 12 month warrantee on just that (so if your ECU fries they don't cover). Now say you put that money on a CC, and planned to pay it off in 2 years, at 15% interest. You now have a 2 year $136 payment. ANYTHING else goes wrong on the car, you're paying for that too, adding to the monthly payment on a beater that is worth less then $1000 with the rebuilt transmission installed.

Don't laugh, but I had a 96 Accord, EX 4d. That thing had the best lumbar and lateral thigh support out of any car I've ever owned. They were as close to having bucket seats while still appearing OEM. I even had a 6th gen Accord (2001) EX. And the seat just did not have the right comfort for a long road trip.
