Internal nomenclature.

Does anyone know what the internal Nissan chassis codes (not engine code) are for Gen 5 units? I imagine the code is the same regardless if it was '99-01 or '02-03. Just curious.

In the US market: Gen4 = A32; Gen5 = A33

Good question that I've been hoping to see asked and answered. Thank you both.

Since this website is dedicated to Maximas only, I guess it wouldn't make sense to refer to a particular generation by that method. When I was active on Nicoclub.com, they have each subforum grouped by model, so it made sense to refer to your car by that chassis code to get better replies to any queries...

^^^ Most everyone here that has the ability to provide educated and useful information is well versed in the use and meaning of these identifiers.

If A31, J31, A32, or however you care to reference a specific vehicle, is to your liking, you're not gonna lose anyone in the translation I assure you.

well, at that time when I was on Nicoclub, I had a Q45 touring (Y33 chassis), and those are already VERY scarce on roads, so it was hard enough trying to get someone with the same chassis to read your post, let alone answer it. I got snubbed by the 1st gen G50 owners a lot, who thought my car was a "mistake" by Nissan, because it was a "stopgap" issue JDM Nissan Cima with a weaker 4.1 L V8 before the redesigned 2002 F50 chassis. So you can see it was worthwhile to know that information there. Here, it's a whole different ballgame, everyone helps when they can, and this website and it's members are one of the main reasons I have not ditched my Max.
