2001 VQ30DE no EGR Valve/system?
I have a 2001 ST Maxima with the VQ30DE(possibly K?, says VQ30DE on VIN plate)
I was wondering if its possible to have a VQ30DE that has no EGR system stock?
it has what looks like a steel EGR tube from the plastic intake manifold(just behind the throttle body mount) but the tube goes down to a bracket and stops, looks open ended and like it has had nothing ever in/on it.
when I had the throttle body etc off fixing a different problem(IACV stuck/blocked with sealant due to previous owner) I stuck a long cable tie down it to see if it was open ended(thought possible vaccum leak source) but it stopped so I assume its plugged off and is just being used as a support for the intake manifold.
I wasn't aware you could get VQ30DE's with no egr system stock
I was hunting for the EGR system to clean the valve/tubes as the car is hard to start when cold
when the cars running, it runs like a champ
battery is fine, and turns over fine and strong and fast(even faster now I put a supercapacitor bank in parallel with the battery, acts like a high torque starter)
MAF sensor just changed as old one was bad and was causing issues (now reads correctly)
IACV was changed and fixed the idle problems it originally had
TPS sensor reads correctly and is calibrated correctly/clean
spark plugs are new so are coils
ecu temp sensor is new
O2 sensors all read correctly, and from the looks of them are also new
the Ignition condensor in the front wiring harness reads correctly(quickly jumps to over 1 megaohm/O.L)
of the multitude of problems this car had, all have been eliminated/fixed except it requires 4-10 seconds of cranking to start on cold mornings and cleaning apparently non existant EGR system was my last hope
if anyone knows if it should have an EGR system, or what else I can try/test, would be much appreciated

What you seen was the EGR is part of the support system for te intake manifold.
when they don't have EGR, a bracket bolts underneath ,the same area. And looks like a EGR pipe. It's on the right in the picture. This is what nissan puts on a VQ30 that doesn't have EGR.

Swap a battery ,from a car that has a new battery. When my car takes a while to start. It usually is the battery. If nothing else is wrong ,it could be a weak battery. Starter could be going bad.
I know people think if these things are working then they are fine. I have found this is not the case.

battery is a fresh one, tests 552cca out of 530, starter turns like a champ, fastest turning starter i've had in a car, its slow to actually fire up, cranking speed is fine
I've also run extra ground cables to engine and transmission

All US 2001 maxima's have no EGR.

I'll post a vid of the cold start

Quick update, I got a VAG COM adaptor and nissan datascan II to manually do the idle relearn after resetting the ECU(battery terminals disconnected for an hour) the reset caused my idle to be high and the manual relearn wasn't working anymore.
turns out the car while not obd2 compliant, it does work with bluetooth obd2 scanners of the v1.4-1.5 elm cheapo variety for most of the sensors, but not for code reading(it just shows no codes found).
so my stahlcar ST200 never had a chance of helpin me with anything but sensor readings.
with the VAG COM KKL cable I tried nissan datascan II the relearn procedure managed to bring down the idle while working on it but never completed and would go ecu busy forever, after stopping the program and reloading the idle returned to its current high idle of 900-1000
so I hit the codes button and low and behold, P1335 (ref crank position sensor) the one under the balancer pulley
I cleared it, stoped the engine, started again, and there it was again, so my ref crank position sensor is cactus
apparently if there are any codes the IAC learning manual and thru consult II/datascan II will not finialize
so I've ordered a new ref crank position sensor, will update post with results, also got another MAF as it appears the one fitted is a 5 pin, and while its readings are close to spec they are on the slightly low side, my cars sposed to have a 4 pin, once the new one was installed the readings came up the 1-3 g/sec expected over the original 3.3g/sec at idle to about 4.8g/sec-5.7 idle
I'll give it this, this maxima has taught me so much about modern mechanics, my previous experience was 20+ years of older style vehicles, points, condensors, dizzy's etc, now I know what an EGR system is/does, what an evap system does/how it works/how its plumbed, how a mass air flow meter measures air flow(by heating a wire/film to a certain temp and measuring the current required to do so vs a reference temp sensor), how a dual intake system works
