Why bother? Fans are $60 bucks and you've already done the work.

I guess if the time spent broke down on the side of the road, your time for the event, possible overheating condition, the tow, the friend to tow, replacing the fans anyway, missed work, any other possible inconvenience caused by the event, or whatever, isn't worth $60 bucks to you then gamble away with ancient, obviously declining fans.
I don't understand how people skimp on critical components like this. It will be JULY in a few days.

Sounds like the bearings are shot in the electric fan motor. Any greasy applied will just be a bandaid until it gives up the ghost. This is one of those items that you probably shouldn't gamble with repairing or trying to tinker with.

the fans are extremely easy to do almost plug and play, if you are still having issues with the fan and you want to keep the car just replace the fan, or have a mechanic look at it
here is the fans i got that are plug and play, you can get indivdual fans and replace those alone but more work.

Hey thanks guys, I found an I-30 fan assembly at the salvage yard, and got if for $35. One of the upper screw tabs was broken, but the actual fan motors were in good shape, and looked beefier than the ones coming out of my Max. After taking the fan blades off the junkyard assembly, I applied a few drops of air tool oil on the motor mounting shaft, and let it soak in... it spun more freely for sure. Removed the motors and put them into the existing shroud. Installed it. Aside from the wires being longer and having to use zip ties to secure them from damage or exhaust manifold burn, they work fine, no noise! FYI : I am actually selling this car, so I wanted to be as thorough as possible in the fix, without buying a new part.

Definitely sounds like the right thing to do if I am attracting potential buyers familiar with cross platform designs and a little technical understanding. Trying to persuade someone who can't even use a hacksaw or a cordless drill might be
