Cranking but no start

I have a 2001 maxima and have a new battery and fuel pump installed. I bought a Bosch code scanner today and I have attached the codes it pops up. Do I need to replace all of them? I took the crankshaft sensor off and cleaned it, reinstalled and still no start. Car has 260,000 miles. Thanks!

CPS will probably address the misfire. Try a new one.

Prophecy99 07-12-2019 05:20 AM

new CPS, do all 3, and must be OEM, or you will do it all over again in 12months

Replaced CPS down by the serpentine belt and still no start. The CPS that goes into the transmission case(I believe) won’t be here for 2 days yet. The speed sensor one, would that really keep the car from starting? Or am I just throwing more money into a car that’s shot?? Help!!!!!!!!!!

if you had a code for CPS you are not throwing money, i didnt have a code and had cranking w rough starts eventually no starts and it was ultimately CPS, if you are not replacing with OEM remember what you are doing because you will do it all over again when aftermarket will last about a year max. there are 3 and any 1 of the 3 could be causing an issue. you have a list of other codes too you might want to start diagnosing them too. there is a chance with your other codes CPS may not be your final answer to your list of codes / issues

This will not prevent the car from starting.

P0180 is the sensor in the gas tank on the sending unit. It could be a broke wire. It won't cause a no start though.

Tried some starting fluid in the air intake and it will fire up and die out in a second or two.. seems to me like it’s not getting enough fuel to stay running? Or could the CPS sensors also be throwing it off. Is there a way to prime the fuel lines after putting the new pump in?

And I’ve also been told a few times that there are 3 CPS sensors. The one is by the pulleys, one in the side of the trans case, where is the 3rd one? Thanks!

The 3.0 liter engine has 2 crankshaft sensors, not 3. Perhaps the people blowing smoke up your butt are confusing the camshaft sensor as a crankshaft sensor.

The way the car is designed, the ECU has to sense pulses from the crankshaft sensor at the flywheel. If the sensor is bad, the ECU shuts the fuel pump off. You have the P0335 code that is the crankshaft sensor at the flywheel.

Thanks Dennis. The sensor at the flywheel comes in tmw morning. I’ll have it installed tmw evening and will update on the results! Thanks!

yea sorry i was blowing smoke, didn't realize you had a 2001, sorry

Help!

Okay I appreciate everyone’s input thus far, it’s been very helpful! I have replaced the sensor by the pulleys, by removing the front passenger tire. And the sensor on the fly wheel. Very easy on my vehicle and still no good startup. I’ve tried starting fluid in the air filter myself and it’ll start for a second or 2 and die off.. I’ve had a friend spray starter in the filter while I cranked, and it would run a little longer then but still die off?? I’ve replaced: battery, fuel pump, crankshaft sensor(pulleys), & cam sensor (flywheel)
No luck!!!

What does your scan tool say after all these?
What's the 10th digit on your VIN?
If you'd been using oem parts could you post the part numbers?
