2k 2k1 owners...what's your overall mileage?

I drove to the twin cities this afternoon, put 229miles on the odometer. I filled up the gas tank and it came to 9.3 gallons.
I averaged 24.6 mpg mixed driving, highway and stop-go :D

During normal driving during the week living in the DC metro area, I get about 21mpg. When I went to Birmingham, driving highway 100% of the time, I got about 27mpg with super and almost 29 with regular gas.

I do 90% highway. Normally 24-25mpg. Once got 26mpg. Not particularly aggressive with starts/stops, but I usually drive 65-75mph.

It's not only you. Even driving fairly restrained, my mpg is for a$$. I think I got close to 350 miles on a bone dry tank, once. Most of the time it's just over 300.

rubman Feb 14, 2002 07:31 PM

Roughly 21.0 mpg in the city, 27.0 mpg on the highway, normally I set cruise control @70mph on the highway.

Isn't it bad for your fuel pump by running it bone dry?

Yeah, I was waiting for someone to bring that up. I don't do that very often, I just get irritated that I needed to fill up already, so I pushed it.

My commute to work is 10 miles each way, all local roads (damn Bergen County). It sometimes involves lots of idling in traffic going around the Geo. Washington Bridge and stuff, and I'm averaging 20 mpg. The one trip I took down the Parkway netted me about 23 mpg for a mixed tank (city and highway). I've only had the car since the middle of December, so I haven't had the chance to take it on a good long drive. Once the summer comes, I can see what the highway mileage is like. :D
