Intrepid owner doesn't fear Maxima.

This poor uninformed Intrepid owner thinks the Maxima is no contest to his Intrepid. What do you think? I think this poor guy is going to get a new ?ssh?le ripped by a Maxima.

Look at his 2nd post.

His car looks like a skunk!

BTW, he is VERY misinformed! :)

NYC2SD Jun 13, 2002 06:28 PM

At least one of his intrepid pals put him in his place 3 threads down!

I guess he thinks the racing stipe might be intimidating.:gapteeth:

djPlayboy Jun 13, 2002 06:46 PM

a 2k intrepid ES has 202hp and the r/t has 242 hp if hes got a es its not much of a challenge plus the car is about 200lbs heavier than a loaded max... :goofy:

But it looks like adaptabl is giving that Intrepid owner a reality check.

djPlayboy Jun 13, 2002 09:14 PM

go look at that guys profile (lmao) something about a 200shot NOS dry system..... i would love to see that...he'd better be smart enough not to do that or at least sleve the pistons or something damn hes gonna blow himself up..... i hope hes joking

costcowholesale Jun 13, 2002 09:58 PM

  that guy took his daddy's big car to try & race ppl & thinks maxima are slow because they're quiet

nc00max Jun 13, 2002 10:21 PM

Cute. I had to drop my .02 in on that one. I used to beat my stepbro in my stepmom's base model '98 all the time with my 4cyl. Camry, and that thing only had 125 hp! 200hp or not, that car's a nutless wonder.

ICELANDIC MAX Jun 13, 2002 10:33 PM

is this intrepid guy a nimrod or what? I feel :bawling: for him.

Triple8Sol Jun 14, 2002 01:44 AM

 That guy is a comedian.

woreyah Jun 14, 2002 02:42 AM

HA HA. I recently blew the doors off my co-workers Intrepid last week.

//M5'ver Jun 14, 2002 02:58 AM

I was driving a 2002 Intrepid ES (cousin was drinking and i was designated driver) that car has no low end power.. however it has some nice highway pull.. and it handles 10 times better than a maxima in stock form... i was able to go around a corner at 100 mph.. feel the back end slipping and easily correct it.. where as it took more work with my maxima..

i had a Saturn (DOHC) fly by me.. and i tried to catch him.. by the time i got up to him.. i hit the limiter at 110 mph.. but they are still no match for a maxima.. it might be a good race for a 4th Gen because they loose alot of power in the high rpm ranges and the Intrepid keeps pulling to redline.. but since 5th Gen's have Variable Intakes and they pull till redline.. 5th Gen's will own it..

Intrepids lack so much low end torque that their is NO WAY in hell you can spin the tires.. i must have tried 10 diff things.. on go.. now power down low.. my cousin's old dodge caravan could spin tires like a mofo.

Another note.. their is a SC for the Intrepid.. not sure if its Centrifugal or Roots Blower though

Maybe he has potatos!! Very small potatos.;)

Eric Jun 14, 2002 07:54 AM

Maybe he's talking about a 3rd Gen Maxima. Anything since then will leave his sphincter sore and bloody....

Matthew Jun 14, 2002 08:01 AM

My goodness. This just proves something I have been suspicious about all along... The 2002 (even 2000-2001) Max is a true sleeper. 90% of the people out on the road, even car enthusiasts, have no clue what the 3.5VQ can do... Hell, most people don't even know it has a 3.5! :D My buddy at work just took his first ride in my car the other day after I got my springs put in, and even after I told him the HP and asked him to estimate the 0-60 time (he used to race Firebirds so he knows cars) he guesses about half a second slow. When I told him the right number his jaw dropped... 'This car can do that???'

 Part of it is I think people look at the car (or sit in it) and think it weighs a lot more than it does... Hell even Acura TL (which is slightly smaller overall) weighs almost 200 lbs. more...

PrinzII Jun 14, 2002 09:32 AM

Maxima vs Intrepid

3rd Gen VG: That's a Maybe for the Intrepid unless it's modded
3rd Gen VE: Maxima
4th Gen VQ: Maxima
5th Gen VQa: Maxima
5th Gen VQ35: MAXIMA Hands down

In a nutshell, a Max is going to hand an Intrepid its keester because the Intrepid is heavier. Pretty much all the Chrysler LH family (Intrepid, Concorde, LHS, 300m) will get their clocks cleaned by Maxes. If the Max is modded,

//M5'ver Jun 14, 2002 10:19 AM

so what IS the 0 - 60 on your car?

For 2002 Nissan SE sutos I have heard everything from 6.4 to 6.8 0 to 60... I would conservatively say that my car with the K&N drop in filter (almost a non-factor) and my H&R springs (which have made a noticable difference in reducing wheelspin and torque steer off the line and help the car maintain stability so the front end doesn't come up on hard launches) I am running a 6.6 0 to 60 right now. I have no timeslips yet, but just from comparing kills and general feel off the line I am pretty certain I am in the mid-6's... But don't flame me 'cuz I don't have timeslips...

I've seen worse. I've seen a Dodge Neon with racing stripes, the Double wing aluminum spoiler, and best of all Dual Exhause to help that big 4 cylinder breathe (being sarcastic).

01BLKMaximaSE Jun 14, 2002 01:35 PM

I have had a good race with an intrepid. WHEN I OWNED MY 94 ALTIMA GLE. I still took the intrepid. I could only imaging if i was in my max.

bigbadboss101 Jun 14, 2002 01:54 PM

how about those Intrepid SXT? Not SVT like the Ford, but a line of SXT like Intrepid, Neon, and I believe Sebring. I haven't seen any info. but did read in another forum about the future Turbo Neon that will do 0-60 in sub 6.

Anyways, the Intrepid are very numerous. Like Civics, Cavaliers, Sunfires they are everywhere. Surely doesn't help resale value.

//M5'ver Jun 14, 2002 01:59 PM

i won't flame you.. i would just ask that you not going around saying what you just said..

Dude, there's some guy that works at Menlo Park Mall (Edison, NJ) that has a Ford Contour V6 with yellow Type R stickers on it. I'm just waiting on the day I can drive by it WITHOUT laughing aloud.

Pepe' Le Pew!!!

I like what this one guy posted......

I'm willing to be almost every 4th or 5th gen Maxima is going to take you. HP advantage or not, you'd better have some decent mods if you think you have "nothing to fear". Just because it's quiet, doesn't mean it's not going to rip you a new one, it just means Nissan's actually somewhat concerned with that aspect of quality control. I have almost full exhaust and CAI, and you wouldn't have a clue till I was blasting past you. Don't judge a book by its cover.
Honestly, this guy doesn't stand a chance against 4th and 5th Gens. I had a LHS and it is slow as hell.

Yes it is. Look at this SKUNK , and most 6 CYL Mustangs, that are owned by RICERS !

I would like to have a 2K2 Maxima with that so called WEAK exhaust, race this sack of s@#$T .. He wont even be able to keep within 3 cars from anyone !

Jun 14, 2002 08:45 PM

Smithtown Nissan was at LI Motorsportspark, and they will verify a 16.5 time for a bone stock 3.5 intrepid...and a old 3.3 intrepid that ran 17.2, and some impressive one wheel burnouts...

They brought out 2k2 Altima + 2k2 maxima both autos...

14.72 for Altima

14.97 for Maxima

Different drivers, and times ranged from mid 15s to the best times of the day.

I wish I drove the 2k2 Maxima auto that day...

I see people in these intrepids, 300M's, Bonnevilles, Grand Prix's and, please, Taurus SE's,that appear to think they really have something special and I think "why". Why spend such money on junk? At least if you've got the money to spend on this class of car...get something that is respectable, you know? Having gone the GM and Ford route in the past, I'm through with them. Unfortunately, I have found the import brands absolutely build superior products. I hate that it is that way, but it is true. There's nothing more I'd love than to get excited about a Buick again, but I'm afraid those days are looong gone. And everything Pontiac touches these days turns into a monster. I don't even get all that excited about Toyota anymore...but Nissan...they are onto something good. Just my 2c worth. srm

KLOOGY Jun 14, 2002 09:05 PM

Remember, there always has to be a teacher to " TEACH " the lesson.... VQ Chapter 1 ... Dont F$%^K with the Max !

Different strokes for different folks, bro!! These domestics hold the same type of appeal for their owners as our Maximas and Altimas do for us.

...What part of what I said shouldn't I say? The part about my car can do a 6.6? Don't you think that is a very fair estimate of what my car is capable of based on other autos timeslips...

Pervis Anathema Jun 15, 2002 11:05 AM

Did you see where they said we are running 350 hp?

True. There's nothing like the tire ripping pull of a GM 3800 Series II V6 when you're in traffic. I love the low-end torque on those puppies. Of course, they run out of steam at the high end, but they were never designed to race in the first place, so low-end torque is arguably more important in the "real-world"

That's why I love the VQ so much. You get the best of both worlds. :)
