2004 Maxima's Turning Radius ?

This may have been asked already but if not has the turning radius been improved in the sixth-gen?

MAXSE-RIOUS Mar 21, 2003 03:05 AM

Doubt it....

Unlikely... since the new Max is now built on the Altima platform. The Altima's turning radius is horrible.:rolleyes:

dartmouthmatt Mar 21, 2003 06:10 AM

nope the turning radius is 40 feet...just as bad as the last max....HORRIBLE!

TDoyle Mar 21, 2003 12:59 PM

^^ Uh, you mean diameter, right?

I hadn't even looked at this aspect, even the G5 Max had a worse turning circle than the Altima SE...and the SE guys are *****ing about that. Oddly enough my 2.5 turns almost as tightly as my Celica...never had a problem getting around a tight corner.

Raven Mar 21, 2003 01:59 PM

Diameter = Radius * 2 :tard:

Its the same qualitative measurement. :nutkick:

**** SUVs have better turning radiuses. i cant make a u-turn on a boulevard because of that ****in ****

yup. its due to nissan putting on wheel stops to prevent the tires from rubbing.

A super tanker, a Boeing 747, and Noah's Ark all have turning radii that are smaller than the 5th and 6th Gen Maximas!:smash:

TDoyle Mar 25, 2003 06:59 AM

"Diameter = Radius * 2

Its not the same qualitative measurement at all...radius is half diameter...thats different. When someone says the radius of a circle is 40 feet, that means its diameter is 80 feet. The previous poster stated that the 03 and 04 Maximas have turning radii of 40 feet, meaning if you cranked the wheel to the stops and stepped on the gas you would make a circle 80 feet across.

True everyone here knows what he meant, but the statement was incorrect...it would generally be best for everyone if we all used the correct terms.

:banghead:Oh, man! Did I blow that one- and I'm a P.E. (Professional Engineer)too! You are, of course, totally correct. I meant to say "turnig diameter" (i.e. "curb to curb").

Geeze- I'm getting to the point where I forget what C.R.S. stands for anymore! :wall:

It happens to the best of us man...

diameter=2*radius
Circumference=2*Pi*radius

area=Pi*(radius)^2
proof: take the integral from 0 to r(radius) and from 0 to 2*Pi
in Cylindrical Coordinates you will get the formula for the
area.
Note: ds=p*d0*dp

;)

EWWWWWWW...keep that away from me. First thing I thought of when I read that was finding the Gaussian surface across a cylinder with a variable charge density!

twoK2MAX Mar 26, 2003 07:38 PM

If you want to I could expand you the Taylor or(MacLaurent) series
centered at Zo=x+iy.With the radius of ...
Bad memories + nightmares

:mad: :bawling:

Well, it seems like it takes 80 feet to turn a Maxima around! Our Grand Voyager is easier to turn and park than my Maxima, for crying out loud!!!!

Nissan- What's up with that?

my friends jeep grand cherokee has a better turning radius than my max.

Has anyone put 17 or smaller wheels to improve the turning radius?
