Help! Back seats won't latch...
 

Does anyone else have this problem, that your back seats won't latch and lock? Mine wont, and I cant figure out what's wrong. Its almost like the bar on the back of the seat won't catch in the lock. Its not a huge deal right now, but I know its not safe in an accident, and i dont want people being able to get into the trunk that way. Any suggestions, or should I just take it back to have the dealer look at it?

Have you tried tugging on the strap in the trunk to see if the latch is stuck open? If it doesn't work after that, I would have the dealer look at it

So after studying the latch mechanics awhile, I took my '03 Maxima to the dealer and said,"I just can't figure out how to make the rear seats latch shut." Sales guy says it could be user error, and then proceeds to slam the seat back. We heard the click. The seat was now locked in place. It was user error: I simply had never used enough force.... Maybe that would solve your problem too ??

By the way spaulding, you'll get NOTHING and LIKE IT! :) Great name..... yes, ive tried slamming it, still no catch, and plus, honestly you shouldnt have to SLAM the back seats to get them to lock, they should automatically catch no matter how hard or soft you push them back, as long as you push them all the way.
