OMG. I ordered a 05 the beginning of October. Do you think this will affect my delivery or build date?

You should not worry about a new order. Nissan would not have issued a recall without having a fix already in place. Newly built models will have the fix because it would cost Nissan more money to build them without it and then have to honor the recall.

MaxMus; I would wait until Nov and get a Max. The Nov model 05 will have standard TCS according to an add I read. The two recalls that are issued will be fixed also.

Here is a paragraph from Nissanhelp.com

Enhancements for the 2005 model year include the addition of standard Nissan Advanced Air Bag System, passenger seat belt warning chime, an additional 12-volt power outlet, black-tone brake calipers, new titanium-tinted interior trim, chrome interior door handles and satellite radio availability on Bose® audio-equipped vehicles. An advanced Traction Control System (TCS) becomes standard beginning with November 2004 production.

Wish I would have waited as well. I bought my 05 in Mid Sept and on 1 Oct they offered the $1000 Rebate. That pissed me off royally. Oh well, timimg is everything and I'm not patient when it comes to seeing something now and wanting it now. I love the car though.

I just got my '05 SE last week. How can I find out if the recall affects me (would Nissan send some sort of notice in the mail)?

you act like no other Max year has had recalls? it's only the air bag. deals with new technology that wasn't designed here. And all "JDM" Maximas have as many or more TSBs than the 6th Gen.

Go here to find any recalls for cars/trucks etc etc. It is pretty current. The exploding skyview roof is in there, but nothing about the air bags yet.

you didnt hear much of this with the 4th Gen, and 5th gens.

only these newer models. Even with the Z, their new flagship sports car had recalls! you dont bring back a legends then have a recall on them (but it was with the o2 Sensors)

All cars have problems, you just hear about the 6th gen ones because you are in the 6th gen forum, come on over to the 5th gen forum, and you'll see tons.

Ditto to that. It may seem like our cars are problem ridden but the fact of the matter is that it is a very high quality car. It's just that we are car the "Maxima's annonymous" (ie support group for Maximas). We are enthusiasts for our cars, so every little detail seem more blown up than it really is. Every car has problems and recalls.

If you've ever had the pleasure (or dis-pleasure) of owning a VW or BMW, or any american car, then you'll really know what pain is.

like i said check these links: Maxima all Gen TSB list and Recalls

You will see about the same or more of each on other years. Only a couple have no Recalls, but all have TSB.

Sure when other gens came out, their forums were ridden with more problems. And they had a lot less features.

I wasn't specifically talking about the max, if you had read the first post the guy said ALTIMAS and MAXIMAS...so that is why I said "what is going on with nissan lately" plus they are 2005 models...barely even been on the lots and already recalled

i definetly get your point, but wasn't really responding just to you. there is a lot of anti-6th Gen going around. I'm sure Japan plants were better, but some act like GM makes the Max now. some act like it has cancer now.

I just really Love her, and it hurts inside, so i have to defend her!

As we all know, The Smyrna plant that puts these together is still way too new. They need to iron out all of the issues they are having. Give them a few years to tweak it all and things should get better. That being said, I am still frustrated with how nissan handles certain quality issues. When over 100K cars are built one would expect the later production to be better. It's a good car and like anything in life the bad out weighs the good. Negative comments stand out 1000% more than the good ones. That's why it seems this car has so many problems. They are all minor and frustrating, but look at it this way. The engine is bullet proof. Mechanically the car is better than a lot out there. Be happy about that.
