Aftermarket Spoiler/Brake Light

For those of you who have installed an aftermarket rear spoiler w/ a third brake light on it... When disconnecting the stock third brake light on the rear deck, did you pull the whole brake light housing out or did you keep it in the rear window/deck? Was wondering if anyone has completely removed the brake light and covered the carpeted holes in the back w/ anything... I was thinking of covering the holes that are left behind w/ something so I can remove the stock third brake light for better rear visibility... Anyone have any ideas?

I just left mine there, and it still works. I tapped my spoiler light into the rear brake light...it was easier.

Agreed it was just easier to leave it there. When i redo the shelf to aide in the decrease of rattling, i may remove it all together.

Yeah, but BOTH of your third brake lights come on (spoiler/rear window) and to me, that looks tacky. I see someone w/ a nice spoiler @ night and when they hit the brakes, it's like, "Woah! That looks so tacky!!!"... I only have my spoiler third brake light working now, but was just wondering if anyone has covered the open space in the rear deck w/ something after removing the stock third brake light...

You could fabricate your own cover. Sheet metal..slightly larger than the opening. Paint to match. Then run a small strip of velcro around the underside edge to hold it in place.
