a new baby(05 maxima) born into my family

my dad just bought a brand new 05 maxima SL. the exterior is black and the interior is that grey leather tone with wood grain. he didnt get the navigation, b/c he didnt need it. i love the HID's, i really wanna get a set of HID's now for my 4th gen.

the car is quick!! alot quicker then i had expected. once i took it for a spin it was unbelievable, especially for the 5sp automatic/triptronic. i raced my buddys 94 5sp teg LS w/ AEM CAI, Skunk2 cat back, DC sport 4-2-1 header, crower cam shafts, brand new clutch, 17" rims. i switched over to the manual shifting, and gave him a small headstart from a 5 mph roll. i caught up slowly at 2nd gear, then 3rd gear just DEMOLISHED him! I LOVE 3RD GEAR IN MAXIMAS!!!! i'd love to see how fast the 6sp manuals are, b/c this car felt fast.

just thought i'd let you 6th gen owners know my 2cents about the car. hopefully i can talk my dad into adding a few performance parts on the car. mostly suspension, since it is fairly sluggish i thought. a nice set of coilovers, a strut bar, and sway bar sounds good with me.

Those mods kinda defeat the purpose of buying a SL IMO. A FSTB and a RSB is a good idea, but springs would kill the reason you bought a SL. Good luck with the mods.

Congrats to your dad. Now you did know that this car has a 1200 mile break-in period right?

msoemax- yeah i guess that would defeat the purpose for getting the SL. he was complaining how the ride in the SE wasnt comfortable enough for his back. maybe with some JIC Adjustables he might find the ride as plesant as the stock SL.

MaxMus- does that break in period go for the automatics as well?

Tek-Niq- yeah i love the car too, it makes going home from college that much sweeter.
