What's up with these Goodyear RSA's....???
 

I know we have done this before, but now it actually happened to me and I need some ideas........I just came to realize that my tires, with 12k miles on them have gone bad. All four of them have cracked. They all have cracks on the inner wall, and the dealer is stating that I should take it back to Goodyear and attempt to get a prorating on the purchase of new tires.......What gives with these sorry a** tires......have any of you had this happen, and what are the replacement tires gonna cost me..........any suggestions on alternate tires, that might perform better or cost less.......

Goodyear has to handle this, not Nissan. Go to a Goodyear dealer and ask them if they know about the problem. If they don't, consider going to another dealer. If you don't have another dealer nearby, have them call the Goodyear rep and ask about it.

With only 12,000 miles, you will probably get another set free of charge. (The guideline is 3/32 or less of the tread used, tires are free. More than that and they'll want to prorate the price.)

If you get any guff from the dealer, call Goodyear yourself. They are aware of the problem and will treat you right.

Call the Goodyear service number and get a case number assigned. The local Goodyear dealer will pay more attention to you when you tell him you've been in touch with Goodyear directly. The procedure was documented on here before and worked well for me. I got 4 new tires out of the deal (only had 8K on them). Others have stated you could upgrade to a different model of tire as well and pay the difference.

Welcome to the club. I have two new RSA's on order because of these cracks. I was hit with a prorated charge of $65/tire, however. This was a reduced price after Goodyear Corp. got involved. The local dealer was going to charge me $120+ per tire.

You are due 100% free replacement tires. I had 9000 miles on mine and now have new F1 GS-D3's. BEST tires I have ever seen!

P.S.-Call Goodyear Customer Service FIRST, not the Goodyear Tire dealer. Get a case #, this is very important so that the dealer will know this is SERIOUS!

These Goodyear tires are shown as being SUMMER tires, and seem to do quite well in the wet. However, I can find nothing about how they perform in snow -- being that they are summer tires. I need year-round tires. Do you have any experience driving with these "BEST tires" in snow?

Thanks, for the advise u'll........I contacted Goodyear at #800-321-2136, and they provided me with a Ref #..........they called my local dealer for me and made an appointment........they did, however explain that the tires will be prorated according to the % of tread wear..........if the tire is 30% spent, then you pay 30% of the new tire price.......I'll let you all know how it goes........PEACE

No, not yet.

If the tread is still 10/32 or 9/32, you should get 100%replacement, 8/32 and less will be prorated.

OMG! If I had only known... I just had a set of Michelin Pilot A/S installed, what a difference!

as the highest priced tire on the market, i sure hope so bluemaxx.

Goodyear agreed to replace my 4 RSAs since 2 showed splits. of course the only other A/S tires rated for the Max are on backorder. Dunlop SP 5000 M look promising. So my question is (rhetorical) why would Nissan put on a tire costing $100 more MSRP than a tire under the same company that is also rated higher: ULTRA High Performance All Season? (of course the RSA price has reduced about $60... wonder why?)

What are the noticeable differences in the ride quality? I am looking for anything to improve my 2005 SE ride quality.

Keeping it? I don't know. I drove another STi tonight. I tried to drive an Evo but as far as I'm concerned Lewsville Mitsubishi can stick it in their asz! I never even sat in one. Fukk them I say. (maybe you should move this to dealer experiences)
The Subaru dealer, across the highway from Mitsubishi, had an 04 with 3800 miles on it, all broken in. I had my way with it for about 25 minutes. It is an ear to ear grin but... damn that Maxima sure is comfortable!

As for the Michelin ride quality? Where do I start? Quiet. No slapping the expansion joints in the road. Gone is the "siren" sound... Overall smoother, quieter and as with any Michelin I've ever had, steering effort is reduced. Best of all; NO MORE SHIMMY!!! Finally. I've had balance, rotate, rosd force variance blah, blah, blah... The first thing I did when I left Discount tire was to get on the stretch of Lewisville Main Street where it always had the shakes and NOTHING!!

Are you sure about that? I didn't really price shop. I looked on TireRack.com and the price was comparable so I went with the local turnkey deal. In and out in an hour or less. I picked the Pilot A/S because it seemed to be the most highly regarded tire on the market as far as wet/dry traction, ride, noise and tread wear. What's not to like. Out the door they were $1300. Don't make me regret it.

I had small splits in 2 of my RSA@ 10200 miles. GY replaced all 4 tires for FREE, as all of them had the same DOT#. But I was not comfortable to go back to RSA and upgraded to FY F1-GSD3 @16 extra/per tire + $10 for 4 valve stems. GY paid for all - (Balancing, mounting, disposal)

F1's ride is much better and quiter. but it is only my first day today with F1, will have to watch out for the shimmy.

Crappy tires , but you got to admit the excellent customer service GY offers. I am going to drop a thank you note to GY consumer Affairs. Actually GY has won more business from me. Now i am shopping for Winter tires - Dunlop M3 ;)
