22's on 6th gen maximas
 

If you are planning on going with 22's, you can go with 22 x 9.5"s with a 35mm offset and a 255/30-22 tire.

Cool...any rubbing?

we can go 10'' wide on our cars, but in a 22'' rim you won't be able to turn that good... I would and am going 8.5'' wide 22 to be safe...

So far, no rubbing. His car also has a front lowering kit. I know this guy peronally just to assure you, but I haven't gotten a chance to ride in the car yet.

You gettin some 22's Tek? I know a guy who has 22's on his 6th, he has 235/30's and they rub in the front until it wears through the inner fender...

LMAO...:D Especially the FDR! I never ever NEVER go that way even if I have to go on the east side of the city. I just take the west side and go crosstown in the city.

I'd love to go 22's but, I don't think my rims would survive 2 days with that kind of rubber. Maybe I'd get a set for show purposes but, that's about it.

That car is dropped too I would imagine...22" + eibachs? That car has to drive like a bucket of bolts.

ok so ive herd like 5 different things i just want to know how wide can i go because im gettin dub cream black ones and theyre a 22 X 9.5 i just want to know if those will fit and what tire i should get and if they dont can someone please let me know and thanks for all the other info though now i have an idea of what to do but i still need more help

9.5 definately fits on the back, but ive never seen bigger than 8.5 in front...not that it means it wont work...but if it affects turning that would suck...
The max has the turning radius of a cruise ship as it is.

22 x 9.5"s will work on the front of the sixth generation maximas. That same guy I was telling you all about has now painted his rims white to match his car.

Oh yeah, there is no such thing as a 235/30-22 tire. The smallest available is the 245/30-22(pirelli), 255/30-22(michelin), 265/30-22(pirelli).

22" wheels are by far (on the newer maximas) gorgeous. Everytime i happen to see one (which is rare) I cant keep my eyes off of it, just seems it be perfect.

8.5" is probably your best bet for easy turning, otherwise it might be a hassle with a drop especially. just my 2 cents.. Tek let me know what wheels you get, i might be able to get them cheaper for you. And if not whatever, atleast u tried to save right? :)

I'm suprised your not going with DONZ wheels. Especially the Sabatini, it would look sick o nthe maxima IMO

Well I went through hell deciding what rims to get for my 6th gen maxima. Didn't know if i should have bought 22 or 20. I asked many professionals and actually got to meet someone in South Beach who has them.

Anyways the only way to stop the car from rubbing is to remove all the plastic and carpet like material in the wheel wells. Not only that but the car looks strange if you dont lower it in the front, there is still a gap there.

If you still want the maxima to perform like it does stock... 22's are not the size wheels you would want. I eventually bought 20's and they slowed my acceleration down.

Last of all the real reason why i ended up with 20's is because the 22 inch tires cost like 350 dollars a piece. And the selection of wheels for FWD 22's is very small, and ugly, unless you got some big bucks.

I ended up with 20 Dvinci Lox that cost 2,000 with some nice goodyear tires.
The 22's that i saw that looked descent and low price were some Panther rims for like 3000... not worth it

By the way, anything more than 8.5 is stupid... i know someone with an altima that has 9.5 and the tires are getting eaten up by the wheel well, good luck with your mission

Donz Sabitini are SUPER EXPENSIVE. I wanted to get those BEFORE I saw the price.

I have lowering springs and 18'' rims. If I put on anthing bigger my car will get messed up here in Brooklyn. Later Warren

22" do look nice but 20" is where I draw the line. Had 3 people in the back of my Max, the 20" tires rubbed....part due to possibly having a big speaker box in the back. I still am cringing at the day I need to replace 4 worn 20" tires with new ones....that is alot of rubber to buy...22" even more. The roads out here are fair, but I have gotten a few scares from some potholes. :shy:

So, is that guy saying 20" slowed the car down noticeably? I know lots of people have 20...is the loss in pep noticeable?

It's not like you're running a 4-banger all of the sudden, but it's a lot of unsprung weight depending on which wheels you choose. I have 18s and I don't notice it, but when I took the wheels off the other day I realized how much more they weight than the stock ones.

And btw, I verified with GPS that my speedo was off my at least 3mph with the 18s. Not sure what's up, but anybody running 20s should check and see if they're doing 15-20 over the speed limit when they think they're only doing 10 over. :)

I guess what I really mean is how much will the diameter affect performance...assuming both weigh the same...your aftermarkets weigh more than the OEM? I hear they are 60lbs each! I wonder how it would go if you went 20" and cut weight by half...which they have.

Should not be that bad going from a 20" to 18" with the lower profile tire as far as the speedo. Tirerack.com used to have a nice article on this. Wish I could find it on the 1+ or - rule.

maximiller305, who ever you talked to about the 22's rubbing and having to take all the plastic liners and carpet material out is wrong. i have 22x 8.5 kaotik finesse wheels and they dont rub at all. the only part it does rub but not any more is the two front plastic linings when you turn the wheel. it wore down now so it doesnt rub anymore. i am also running 245/30/22 pirelli's.

EdRomo86... the only way i will believe what you are saying is if you post pics of the car and the wheel wells. I have 20's and lowered my car 2 inches in the front and .8 in the back, and like other people say when people are in the back seat it rubs...
So how can you say 22's don't rub? Did you lower your car? If you didnt it probably looks wierd cuz you gotta lower a car on any size rims.

I went from the stock 17s on my SL -- which are 225/55 -- to 245/40s when I put 18s, which is an inch smaller on the sidewall, so it evens out with the inch bigger wheel. Not sure why the speedo was still off by that much though.

i got 20"s, and if you turn the wheel all the way to the right or left, it will rub on the inside of the wheel hub. So, sharp turns are a no-no. With 22"s, as long as you drive straight all day, I agree there will be no rubbing. but if you are turning to go to the store or gas station, you will get rubbing. Plus with that thin tire, the rim will be bent in no time. 20"s are enough on this car. It's not an SUV!

Im runnin 20x9 at all four corners... no rub at all. Thats even with 5mm spacers so my rims sit flush with the fenders. Like I said before, my buddy has 22's and the two little spots that did rub in the front worn themselves down. Whos gonna take sharp turns at high speeds with nice rims anyway? Edromo, all these posts and STILL not 1 pic..?
