Nismo CAI, C/E Y-Pipe, Catman Exhaust, Underdrive pulley

1.Does anyone have those exact "mods" on their car?
2.If so, then how is the whole set up?
3. Have you had any CEL or anything like that go off?
4. How much of a sound difference is there with all of that, and is the sound better or worse?
5.With the underdrive pulley, is there any erratic idle or less a/c or similar things like that.
6.How much estimated gainage in power is there? And is it across the power-band or just low-mid or mid-high?

Thank You:clap:

I have the nismo CaI and i am loving it. i don't have all those mods but something i plan to be doing in the future. The Cai is not loud at all. people wouldn't even know you had it until you take off hard. i feel a good amount of HP gains also. hoped i help. and good luck modding

!PrjctMax! 03-15-2006 08:45 AM

Is the power gain at mid-high range, or what? and are you slower off the line with it? Because that's the "myth" i've been hearing on CAI with automatics.

Have you seen Tek's clips with his fujita CAI? How does the nismo sound compared to the fujita?

Tek-Niq 03-15-2006 08:50 AM

cattman is pretty loud, you might wanna get the one with the resonator.

no one has dynoed this exaust though, intake has gains(Fujita), pulley I will dyno soon. power of the intake is throughout the band, ecu is throughout the band also. pulley should be low end since is a TQ mod.

SmokedOutMaxi 03-15-2006 09:06 AM

It's a mid range gain. The whole slow off the line thing i have no idea.

*FleXIMA* 03-15-2006 09:19 AM

i did notice a little slower excel from the line... but better pull up top

chernmax 03-15-2006 09:37 AM

Should get some decent gains, it's close to my setup and I feel a definite power increase.

Injen CAI
CE Y-pipe
GReddy SP-II
UR Pulley

thanks for your feedback guys! but has anyone had any CEL go on? or things like that?

Mightymousehhd4 03-15-2006 02:19 PM

That is real close to my setup....I have Injen instead....don't have the dyno yet...but definate gains. I only had the CEL come on when I did my intake. For sound...depends on much you like it.....this is more of an opinion.....but imo I love it. For the pulley havent had any problems as of yet.

o ya on the pulley, how many miles did u have on your car when u installed the pulley, and how many miles do u have right now? and thanks for the info!

I have the cattman exhaust. I noticed some loss of off the line power, but at higher rpm's I noticed a difference. Torque steer starts earlier in the rpm range compared to before. The cattman is loud even with the reasonator, but I plan on insulating the trunk like dues did to keep the decibles low inside the car. On the outside, I like that I can set off car alarms in parking garages..:wiggle:

With my NISMO CAI, I cannot tell if I am slower off the line because I get wheelspin (louzy RSA's). Power is better mid and top end. My dyno shows HP just beginning to level off (flat) at 6400-6500 (5A/T). CAI sounds loud inside car, but while on dyno, was not that bad outside. I think with a set of GReddy, I won't hear the CAI.

From dyno charts I have seen, CAI gain is about 20whp mid range, closer to 10whp at top end. UR is 3-5 whp according to www.nissanperformancemag.com.

Before I add any more power, I first have to get the car more stable with sway bars, better braking with SS Braided brake lines) and BFG g-force tires.

Has anyone attempted to fit smaller battery where windshield washer container is? I figure I could save 20 lbs and add traction?

:Orly:

Saving weight wont add traction :jeffy: It will make your car slighty quicker if its a significant amount. Just think about RWD car owners in harsh winters. They add sandbags in the trunk to gain traction on the rear wheels so they wont spin out.

Glude 03-16-2006 03:11 PM

U can by a odyssey/Hawker battery. The one I was looking at is around 15 lbs or so, it would save about 25 lbs.

DeusExMaxima 03-16-2006 04:04 PM

Another alternative is to relocate ur battery to the rear so the nose of the car isnt as heavy. This improves handling. I think a lighter battery is a good idea, especially if ur trying to drop weight of the car. If you can drop 10 lbs per rim, lose the spare tire and jack, and go to lighter battery, you can lose about 120 lbs.

MDS 03-16-2006 04:17 PM

If you are trying to save 15 lbs, another alternative is to keep a little less fuel in the tank. At 7 lbs per gallon, two gallons of gasoline is almost that 15 pounds.

DeusExMaxima 03-16-2006 04:31 PM

When I raced my Maxima last year, I get tank about 1/3 full, so 12 gallons at 7 lbs per gallon is a whopping 84 lbs!! Draining ur windshield washer fluid may reduce by another 7 lbs. I think we're getting off topic though

3.5 Lover 03-16-2006 05:21 PM

I have the Stillen intake and exhaust. Great sound from the intake and it's not as loud as the CAI (Injen) when I had one on my 03 Altima. The exhaust is too quiet for me but it's getting a little louder as I get more miles on it. I'd be lucky if i am getting 5 HP from the combo. Sometimes I think that noise fools people to believe your actually getting more power than you did prior to installing it. Sometimes I wonder. Like someone else said here, the dynos change so much you dont know if its actually a gain or not. The weather (hot or cold temps and wind) plays so much of a factor and elevation.
