i like the '07 but i'm stuck with the '06...
 

well i bought my '06 little over 2 months ago and now i see the '07 and i like it very much. however, after talking to a couple of dealers/people i've been told i can't really change it for the '07 without making my payments a lot higher, so...
is there any way to get the following from the '07 into my '06:
- bose system with cd player/aux input (soooo angry that the '06 didnt have it)
- rear spoiler
- front bumper with fog lights (and have two fog lights?)
basically that's what i would want on my max, think the dealers would do that or will i have to do it somewhere else?

and another question, when i bought my max i was very much uninformed about the options, and after being in the '07 i really want the Driver's Preferred Package...can they put it in the car at the dealership after buying the car?

Couldn't you just sell your car?

The only thing that will probaly fit is the spoiler, and the Bose will fit, but it will be a pricey install! lol As for the bumper and foglights.....very doubtful because it's a different mold and it will not fit the 6th gen max. And for the preferred package; everything is possible but you will pay labor up the a**. So next time just look into the options that you want and research a few things for yourself so that you won't have to be doing what you are no. Not trying to bust your chops, just trying to help you out in the future! :hs: :p

If you're that much in love with th 07, I think your best option would be to sell your 06 and take it in the shorts. Then again, unless you really just don't like the 06 anymore, just keep it and be happy. I got my 06 about three months ago and the salesman told me then that the 07s were almost ready to come out. He didn't have any info on them for me to consider whether to wait or go ahead on the 06, so I went ahead and bought my 06. I'm very happy with it. A few weeks later I saw pictures of the 07 here. There were differences about it that I liked and some that I didn't like. I'll keep what I have.

saw 07... the grille is even uglier! IMO

yea buh the new 07 grille i saw in person nd i lik it better than 04-06 stock grille buh not the active tuning s4 grille! lolxz...the thing is i don't even kno if they weould do the bose upgrade if you would even call it that...caue the new bose system isn't the same...i think...is it? spoiler definatly...

Sell your car. I don't think I like the 07 that much. I like the 06's SE's rims much better. Not too crazy about the 07 spoiler either.

I think the 06 looks better.

i never liked the 04-06 grille, although i do admit it's grown on me enough to be okay with it since i saw the 04 when i was getting my 03.

so you guys are saying sell my car...wouldn't that be something like the following:

- take 4,000 miles worth off the price, plus conditioning, plus some of the stuff i've changed plus me driving it around. let's say i lose $5,000 on it or something. wouldn't the new '07 be its price plus the $5,000 i lost by selling the '06? cause i'm financing it, soo it just seems like i would have to pay as much as i would have originally for a G35...
anyways, i'm not even going to try to go through that. i've thought it over today and i'm happy with the '06. just trying to get some of the parts i like of the '07 in the '06. the reason why i want the new bose system is not so much the system itself as it is for the AUX input!!!!!:nod:

Yeah, it makes much better financial sense to stick with the '06. Upgrading all of the items that you mention could also be very expensive though.

If you are happy with your '06, stay with it for a couple of years until the 7th gen arrives - it might be worlds better to you than the '07.

I agree w/ what Monotaur said- b4 u know it, the 7th gen will be here(hopefully w/300hp and AWD). You have a nice car and if u do have extra $, get some bolt-on mods(intake, exhaust, susp, etc). Plus, if you're looking for a spoiler, I'd check out the G35 spoiler- it looks great on the SL. Anyway, good luck w/your new Max- it's still a sweet ride, so enjoy!

I agree, I am not huge on the 07, plus by the time you got your 06 they had pretty much all of the kinks worked out of the car, you never want to buy the first year of a model change, although the changes havent been that dramatic. You never know though...I dont like those 07 wheels either...the bumper would never fit right, and you can get either spoiler you want..the one on the 07 or the 06. My 04 has bose?? I am wrong in assuming thats not what you mean when you say bose?

'07 (and most likely '08) is a mid-run update on the 6th gen - sort of a 6.5 gen, much like the '02/'03s were 5.5's and the '97-'99s were 4.5s.

7th gen not due for a couple more years.

he probably means that time goes by so quickly and hoping the 7th gen will have those features in a little over a year or 2.

I got my 06 SE in Feb. I like my lip spoiler and rims better than the 07s but I've had problems with mine. Here's the story (again..sorry folks):

I have an 06 Maxima SE that I got in Feb. I have the power sunroof and in May, I noticed my headliner was falling right behind the sunroof. There's not a dealership in my town so I had to drive 30 minutes. The car was ready the next day, I was out of town so my dad picked it up for me. Halfway home, the headliner fell. We were told they used double sided tape! I live in south Georgia, 100degree weather everyday, and my car is black. I couldn't believe they thought it would work! Well, my Dad didn't do anything until I returned. I called the dealership on the next Monday (one week from first trip) and told him it didn't work, and I was coming back. He called the next morning saying the adhesive wasn't holding and they would have to order a new headliner. Well, when that came in, I took the car back and left it for the week since I was gone once again. The headliner was replaced but something rattles and it has been getting worse.

About two weeks ago, I was cleaning my trunk. I have the lip spoiler on my Maxima and pinestraw had gotten stuck. When I was cleaning that out, I noticed that my spoiler wasn't attached very well. This too had adhesive that wasn't working. I've also begun to notice problems with the computer in the car. Numerous times, after cranking the car with the stereo completely off, a radio station will be on display but the system is off. Also, if I view TRIP or FUEL ECON, sometimes they will stay up for 10 seconds or so (long enough to read) and other times, they won't go away!

My car has 8,000 miles on it. The dealership that did the work is not the one I purchased from. I purchased at Troncalli Nissan in Atlanta since I will be attending Georgia Tech. Prestige Nissan of Thomasville, GA did the headliner repair. I'm holding off on the spoiler and computer until next week when I am in Atlanta and will take the car to Troncalli.

Has anyone else experienced problems of these sorts???

Strange... I thought I was the only one with the phantom radio station going on. I can never reproduce it though. It just happens at random moments. I would take it to the dealer but they will just say they couldn't reproduce the problem either and can't fix it.

All I can say to you my friend is research research research. The pics of the '07 Maxima were released early in April (the thread started here on 4-11) You could've saved yourself all the pain of having to post this thread!!

Aux input: just buy the PAC adaptor and you will have an aux out (better than a plug/wire hanging out of the center of the dash board anyways IMHO) And to add the new stereo you'd also have to replace the entire center of the dash and center console.

rear spoiler: should fit but will run you some money because these don't come painted from the dealer and if they did, the paint codes changed for '07 so most likely it wouldn't match even if it was painted.

'07 bumper: You'd have to replace the bumper, front fenders, headlights and hood.

Looks to me like you'd be better off "taking it in the shorts" like Majestic06 said. :run:

I haven't had any problem with the TRIP/FUEL ECON function. I am not sure if this is your scenario or not but - if you are playing the radio/CD and you press the FUEL ECON button it will stay on only 10 sec or so and then go back to the radio station. IF you press it when your not listening to the radio/CD it will stay on and not shut off... until you turn on your radio

I'm not sure..I'll have to pay closer attention but I believe it has stayed on with the radio before. Thanks!
