Where's the ECU?

After installing my headers and Greddy cat-back(Tuesday 8/8) I'll be looking to get the ECU reprogrammed by Technosquare. Anyone know where the ECU is located? Any instructions on how to remove it? Thanks in advance.

You can also post any thoughts or opinions on this mod. There's a pretty good write up on what the new program does: http://www.technosquareinc.com/maxima.htm

Did you ever get a quoted price for the header install?

I was going to save the best for last but since you asked:

Joetech wants $800+ for the install and dyno before and after.

InterCrew Racing wants $300 for install and dyno before and after! InterCrew did my springs and sway bar. I know headers are a whole nother animal but they said they would do it for $250, dyno is $50.

Yes, both my buddy and I were puzzled at the price but hey. I have an appointment on Tuesday. I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks Tek, I printed it out. I MIGHT wait until the Technosquare guy comes back from Japan. I called and they said they could still do it but it may take an extra day. He'll be back in Sept.

well my question about the ECU is...do u have to do it? i mean reflashing it? i kno it very benifial if you have a lot of mods...buh taking the car out of commishion for even 3 days is kinda lik hurtful towards my life...lolxz nd i really can't take it out of commishion for that many days. thats y i wanted to kno if it that nesecceary or can you just reset the ECU once nd it'll be ok?

resetting the ecu won't do crap, this reflash will stay with you forever. your car will be out for 2 days not 3. you have to overnight it before the fed-ex office closes, I sent mines around 6pm eastern. got the the 2nd day in the morning..

I guess the rest has to be left up to a SAFC II to do the rest. Did you ever post your final numbers?

final numbers were from 212hp to 229 and 221tq to 231.. the SAFC can do alittle better with it I think, I'm also getting it for a better AF on top of the ecu..

VAFCII has 24 tuning points, SAFCII has only 12. Can we get a sticky on this one thing? WAYYYY too many people ask when I state to get the vafcII over the safc and im getting tired of reposting it. Not trying to be rude but its seriously been beaten to death. The emanage would be best if you have a place thats good at tuning one.

You're lucky, based on those price quotes, they have never done a 6th Gen header install, that's a minimum 8 hour swap, more if you don't know what your doing... :hs:

Your right, although many altima guys said they got theirs installed in the range of 175-350. My buddy is gonna do mine for 200 so im not complaining about that price. Of course, he did the coilovers, vafcII, endlinks, oil change, and trans fluid change for 100 bucks. He hooks it up...hehe.:rollsmile
