New '06 Max Owner: Question about CD's
Just traded in my 1997 SE black/black auto with 120K (got $4500 for trade-in w/tranny issues, decent??) for an '06 SE 6-speed silver on black leather w/elite package.
I'm in love. Got it with 17 miles and now up to 221 miles over the past 36 hours. :) Anyway, I have an issue with the CD player. I realize they didn't intoduce the MP3/WMA playing until '07, so I burned a regular 15-track CD-R. The CD plays fine tracks 1-11, but tracks 12-15 don't play correctly. There is a background static noise and it just quits after a few seconds. Is this a known issue with the Bose system? did I put too much on the CD? or should I switch the CD media with another brand. All in all, I'm thrilled with the car. I'll be posting much more on here over the next few weeks and years. :) |
I burn 20 track (80 min) disks all the time with no problems (using Nero).
|
yea i haven't had a problem either...
|
no problem here, used windows media player and nero
|
well did you try the cd in another player? or how bout making another disk? and how much space did you leave at the end of the disk?
never had any trouble with any disks. |
no problem here either. I burn my CD's until they are completely full and no problems. I use Nero mainly and sometimes Windows Media Player.
|
I don't have any direct experience with the '06 CD player, but all of my pre '07 Max's and my Volvo were/are CD-R brand sensitive. The Max's all exhibited the exact same symptoms you describe with anything other than Fuji blanks. The Volvo does the same with anything except Memorex.
I found this held true with discs burned from Roxio, Nero, WMP, i-Tunes and MediaMonkey. |
Never had any problems here and I fill my CDs completely full. I also have used MANY different brands of CDs in the player.

Congratulations on the 6TH Gen upgrade. Sweet color combo... wish I would have held out for silver. I bet you're lovin that 6 speed too huh?

Thanks for all the feedback. I figured the culprit isn't the new Max. I suspect the media brand and as per jcalabria, I will try some Fuji blanks.
... and yea, the 6 speed is awesome. Not going above 4,000 RPM's for the first 1,000 miles is really killing me (can't say I haven't done it once or twice..lol) |
You can also try to reduce the cd writing speed...from what you mentioned it could be one of the reasons (high numbered tracks are written towards the exterior of the cd, where the rotational speed is usually greater). I hope it helps.
