rear heat?

rear heat?
Is there any rear heat in the Max? It was -5 F a few weeks ago and I had some cold rear passengers. The front of the car was warm but not the rear so we opened the vent in the back of the center console and only got cold air. Tried it again today and same thing.
There is no heat coming from under the front seats and the back of my Max is cold. Anyone know if there is a way to turn it on, is it a poor design, or is there something wrong with my system?

That makes sense
If I do that then the front gets no heat, or if I open up the front vents I get the air in the face and less air to the back seats. What a crappy system. I think my '02 Altima SE had air vents under the front seats for the rear passengers and so did my '00 Accord.

aren't there vents under the front seat of 6th gens? i remember seeing this black vent thingy when i was installing my audio. anyhow, i usually just keep the vents facing up, so the warm air can circulate to the back.

I keep crossing my fingers in the hopes that I'd find a rolled elite so I could score the rear seat and center console to convert mine. Sadly I think its just not going to happen.
Heated seat insert panels could be integrated to the rear seats easily. Maybe route the controls to the center fold down armrest area. Could be a unique mod for someone willing to work at it a bit.

The Infiniti I30t has the rear seat heaters... I've been looking on the net to see if I could score a reclaimed set and have it installed. I would put the switches on the back of the front armrest, near the rear A/C ducts, that way I could turn them off if the kids left them on.

I actually get heat in the back, but not at the same intensity in the rear vents as in the front, whether I have the heat turned all the way or on the lowest setting the heat always flows out the same in the rear, I dunno maybe poor design???

The rear duct runs quite a bit further than the ducts from the heater core to the dash vents. There will of course be heat loss through that length of duct. Also it loses heat into everything else around it. The floor, the center console, etc... So it may take a while to heat up, and will likely always operate at a lower temperature.

I was going to ask about this too! All that comes out of the rear vents is cool air. My kids are in car seats so they can't feel the cold leather in the back. I'm glad it dosen't get cold that often down here in TX. It's going to be 78 degrees tomorrow!

I called the dealer, and they said cold air coming out of the rear vents is normal. It is so the rear windows won't fog up, and not so the passengers can warm up. Tell that to the my passengers in the back seat.... Dumb design in my opinion.

Try putting both modes of heat on (upper & lower - feet warmers) and putting the fan up all the way... that gave me hot air in the back... if you just have da air coming to the upper vents only then youll only get cold air in the back vents... if you put on both modes you shud b fine...

Well since everyone else is responding to a 2 yr old thread i might as well too. The answer, in my opinion would be to face the front dash vents to the roof. This keeps the front cabin warm as well as floating warm air to the rear. i do this all the time and it works aces, trust me. Problem solved. Your welcome.

But the problem isn't solved by doing that, the rear vent problem still hasn't been answered!!

sound technology; if you want heat to the rear of the car
1) close the dashboard vents
2) turn on front vent full blast and some heat will get through to the rear vents
What happens to the windshield defrost and heat up front? I usually need to see through the windshield to drive and what about the feet area in the rear? heat rises and wonder if Nissan knows that the vents should be on the floor.
