A/C Leak
 

About two months ago i filled the A/C system with the R-134a 2 bottles. and now its empty so i bought some of the refigerent with the UV dye in there and put it in. direcly after putting in some i saw this. i circled it. i am sure this is not normal but do you guys have that hole in your system also?

You, my friend, have an obvious hole in your AC hose. This hose must be replaced before attempting another recharge.
It will never hold the refrigerant as is.

yea i figured thats the hole. any one know how much the hose goes for?

That looks like the low-pressure flexible hose, I couldn't find the Nissan p/n. I think there are o-rings on each end that should be replace at the same time. I would call your local dealer and start from there.

and fill in category, year, make, type and model and you will find two AC hoses. One the upper and one the lower. I came up with gates p/n 22963 and 22964. Not sure what one you need, but they run about $9.00

I've never replaced this hose, and never purchased through either one of these sites, just used as a reference.

ok just got off the phone with nissan. the low side hose goes for $117

and part number is 9248 7Y105.

i looked at the gates and rockauto sites. can those be the same hoses?

After further review, no they are not the same. My mistake, I got off looking at coolant hose (the fat ones that carry antifreeze) not AC hose. Huge difference. I'm a little shocked at the $117!

yea i checked up courtesty parts and got 86 dollars.

i for got to put a 0 in the part number its actually
92480 7y105 for the low side.

where else can i look for this?

Well, I was wondering if i was the only one that got one of these bad hoses, but it appears that I wasn't. My leak was in the exact same spot on my '04. I was very disappointed to have a hose on a ~3 year old car go bad so soon. I had a local shop get the part from Nissan and install. The part was about ~$120 and labor for change out, vacuum and recharge was another $100. I think that was a pretty good deal, but didn't really price it out. I'm sure the dealer would have stuck it to me a lot worse.

well the a/c had almost no charge now rite now. so i dont have to worry about the vaccume part :) and replacing my self. looks fairly easy.

I spent $125 to get my a/c charged few weeks ago and now it's not working. I took it to the shop and they said that I have to get a new hose and quoted me $275 fix the problem. I don't have the time to compare prices so I guess I'll just have to eat it..... I'm just disappointed at the fact that from a 3 year old car, I have to go through this... but then again, my car has 104k miles.

wow. 104K? drive alot. did they tell you which hose needed to be replaced?

fcuk. I had my AC compressor changed by the dealer cause the original was fried and I couldn't really check whether it works cause it was brick here in NY. This week was actually "hot" and I just found out my AC isn't working, the air blows but its not cold. Back to the dealer on Tuesday.

well i personaly used to have a 93 SE. tranny died so i got a accord for a while. but yea we have a 04. older bro. also have a 4th gen also. maxima's all around.

We found the leak. $250 to replace the part, and recharge// not a bad deal.

yea i think i am better off doing this at home. get the hose for about 90ish. hopefully that includes the O rings. and new refigerend. cant be more then 130.

UPDATE to #15.

Got my maxie yesterday and the dealer replaced the hose on the low pressure side. AC working fine now. Work done under extended warranty. $0.00 out of packet.

Fantastic!!!!you mean they actually honor those extended warantees? Ha, I got one myself.

ohh mann your soo lucky. so this is kinda like a known problem. or at lest its starting to be common.

I bought my 2004 SE with 71,000 miles on it in January 2007. I didn't notice until it started getting hot outside that my AC didnt work (Blowing Hot). I took it to the Nissan service department and they informed me it was my AC hose that needed replacing. The master technician said that he found this to be a common problem on these cars. The dealership quoted me a price of $450!!!!!!!:bawling: I thought the certified car care warranty I had would cover this but apparently it does not according to the service department. I traded in my 97se with 303,000 miles on it for this car. I never had a problem with anything related to the AC on my 97!! Maybe nissan needs to do a recall on this part because paying $450 at the dealership for the AC hose is crazy, the car is not that old!!!

I had my low pressure hose replaced last year at about 25k miles. South if you do this yourself, take a lot of pics, step by step and maybe it can become a sticky since so many have had this problem and the dealer wants so darn much to fix it.

I do agree, $450 for a stinking hose is highway robbery.

But if it is a Nissan specific part, what can you do?

Is this really a Nissan specific part? From reading some posts above, I understood some non-oem hoses are available...maybe I understood wrong. If not, please specify.

I was wondering if this was a specific part too before i had mine replaced since I've been told that some shops can make A/C hoses themselves. The shop I went to had to buy the hose from Nissan for ~$110 I think. The hose seems unique to me because it has metal piping on both sides of the rubber hose and one side has the low side schreader valve built into it.

It seems very odd that so many hoses are going this early. I wonder what supplier/factory f....d this up.

With these many people chiming in with the same problem it would appear that this problem is somewhat common. I love this car, but think anyone else would have given up on it after so many dealer visits.

I found the leak at the area where it says 04/16/2008, check 1st picture in bellow thread. Yes exact the same small spot what OP has in his 1st thread.

Thanks to GrimMax, I had to use one of your picture to illustrate proper leak area.

I know this thread is old, just adding to the collection. 2006 Maxima SE 50k miles has same exact problem with the low pressure AC hose. 2 years ago the dealer replaced the high pressure line under warranty, now they want $439 ($110 part, labor, and recharge) to replace the low pressure hose. Extended warranty is through credit union, but I'm taking it somewhere else to have the work done. I still do not see a recall for this issue. Better keep my receipts for this close by.

I got mine done for 245.00 at a local shop. I have an 2005 wit 97k miles, dealer wanted 435.00 I said no way :D

2004 SE Same problem...

I've had mine replaced twice under warranty and now my tech just informed me its leaking again :-( This one will be on my dime. Cheap A/C hoses or something.

does anyone know if there is an aftermarket replacement that is of better quality than the oem one?
