Thoughts?

hmm... idk about that one.

I'm sure they would have released a notice to users if this was so.

I've always had my keys next to my cell phone, either in my pocket or in the cup holder. Maybe my phone is not one of those phones that alter the codes.

I was at the dealer this morning and they have a big poster in their service department about it. It doesn't afect me (2004) but I guess it is important since they posted it there.

I've had my phone and keyfob in the same pocket many times. I have not had a problem.

thats not true it is possible to reprogram those keys its about a 100 step process that takes about 2 hours. when i went to get a new battery for my 5.5 Maxima that service advisor was telling me this. the earlier key models are easier then this when it comes to reprograming like i said before its a 100 step process that takes 2 hours or more.

I have not had any problems with mine, my key is in my pocket next to my Verizon phone, and so far, so good on it working correctly.

O7 Altimas have that same problem too...just my two cents...

Just a follow up. Was talking with the tech at my dealership and he said it was limited to the Alt. and G due to the push to start. So no worries with us Max owners. If you don't know, now you know. Enjoy the week!!

That's good to know. I have noticed though that my Treo interferes with the key if they are in the same pocket. I just move it around a little and i'm good after that.

I'm wondering why it doesn't affect the M?

VinneousMaximus Jun 12, 2007 04:14 PM

Good question, but just the fact that it uses separate keys for the alt/G and the Max throws me. You would think it's the same technology, just different means of switching the ignition on the cars side. Would also think it cheaper to keep only 1 type of fob rather then 2-3. WHatever, as long as I have no issues. Tech says there coming up with a new key to rectify problem, but unsure how their getting them in peoples hands.

Every Altima I've driven at work, I've had the intelligent key in my pocket along with my cell, and never an issue. Weird, and we've also had no complaints about that happening, either.

I asked about this at my dealer yesterday and got the same story, that it affected Altimas and Infinitis but not the '07 Maxima. And again, it was the "push to start" function that makes them somehow different.

It is because of the electric steering wheel lock function that the Altima has, which the Maxima does not.
