Which air filter do you guys use for your Maxima?
I wasn't sure where else to look and recently I just bought a Purolator Pure One Air Filter Part Number: PA24278. Did I make the right choice?
I haven't installed it yet, and I'm not sure how to yet. What kinds of tools do I need? I assume just a screw driver? |
K&N for the stock airbox.

drop in k&n

I thought the Fujita CAI's are $175 range now. Get yourself ~12 more whp and if you ever do a CAI, the drop in filter is a throw away. |
I was also going to suggest that^^^^^
I was going to buy a K-N-N filter, but decided to go cheap because I knew in a short time I was getting a cold air intake. My two cents.... |
wix or AMSOIL
|
I did K & N...its the best, unless u do CAI

Does anyone have any experience with the Puralator though? Also, the only K&N I saw at advance auto parts near by me costed 50 bucks and it was the 'lifetime' warranty version.
I'm changing my air filter because I've passed the 30,000k mile mark and so I wanted to try something new outside of stock and I'm not neccessarily looking to get more power out of a new air filter but I'd like to improve efficiency if possible. Sounds like if something is going to give you more power, it's probably not as efficient, heh. I will take a look at the Fujita CAI though. |
I thought CAI's gave you better fuel efficiency. I could be wrong though. Only reason you'd not get more efficiency is if you floor it more often....

You did well with the Pure One, the K&N is good at passing air and fine particles, unless you racing stay with the paper filters. See below, also there are numerous tests out there showing the same results.

I would go with Apexi! Why? Look at HERE :)

K&N for a combined mileage of 295k. :ben:

I bought the K&N then turned out to be a waist of money after I learned about the CAI. |
There is always a lot of talk about filters does anyone accually have back up on the cold air making more power than a drop in? Thier own dyno not the brands ad.
