|
Looking good guys... I need to clay mine ... its been.......... TOOOOOOOOOOOO long
|
very nice
|
Looks goo I did mine las weekend
|
I was going to clay bar my car but when i was buying the clay advance auto the worker told me not to do it because it was not needed yet. Do you guys think i should go ahead with it, i would post a pic of my car now but dont know how lol.
|
Lightly run your hand along the car... is is semi rough? ... how many miles do u have on your car... have you done it b4?
DO IT! lol |
a brand-new car can be clay'd. the clay merely lifts the contaminants from the paint- along with over spray from the factory.
my paint feels like glass. |
Thats what i was thinking i just choose not to do it at that time just to make the employee feel like he knew what he was talking about:laugh:. I just wax my car 2 days ago so i will wait about a month so that all of that work would not have been wasted. My car is an 05 it has 49000 miles on it, and no i have never clayed it thats why i want to do it, nothing like a silky smooth clean car lol.

Claying is pretty amazing.
|

Pourquoi tant de questions que vous vous posez? Plus de questions, alors vous demandez à un enfant. Pourquoi le ciel est bleu? :D |

Whats good? I don't want to do it myself so when it gets warmer I'll probably get somebody from NYCM to do it for me. Shouldn't be that expensive. |
Hey xoomer it's very easy to do we do it on every new and used car at my job. the only thing as you never did it before it would take a little longer time and more than one application. After claying we always wax the cars and they you have a super smooth finish.
|
i bought the turthe wax ice liquid clay, sounds weird but i'll give it a try.

^^^ Welcome to the org. Do you regularly miss the 'd' in "and" on purpose?
I am always impressed to see how much extra work people make their brains do in order to look kool  |
my cars is about 2 years and 7 months old now, I've been putting it off but I think it's time to clay bar it
|
I have claybar'd mine a couple of times and the surface is smooth as glass :D
|
claying a car is pretty retard-proof. hell, i dont even think you can damage the paint with it- save for hard rubbing in one spot... but really, its quite simple to do and, other than it being time consuming, theres nothing to it.
i am a clean freak and i had to get every little speck out of the paint... and it took me less than an afternoon. the job shouldnt take you more than a 6 pack lasts. and- knowing what i know, i would NOT pay someone to do it for me. i might even start charging people. :o |
i just got my 04 SL. its pewter ( im calling it gold ) do you think the paint will look as good as the OP's with my colour after clay barring it?
|
Yeah i am gonna do this too!!
Wow that first pic looks super clean!! |

Hi, I'm new to the forum and some car stuff. I've never heard of claybar. I just bought a new '07 this weekend and I want to keep it clean. By the sounds of it, anyone can do it. Where do you get the stuff?
|
I am doing mine again in 2 weeks. My last clay bar job was done so well that it's still nice now after a tough winter...in fact up here in Montreal we had the worst winter in 100 years...so much for global warming...At the begining of this week we still had snow banks that were higher than 7 feet! My city has a bylaw limiting the removal of snow by snow blowers only...any I don't mean the rinky dink hand pushed ones...these fit on the back of Large John Deere's....and no snow plows. So the snow kept getting piled up one snow storm after another....and another....so spring is late though now it's back with a vengeance...it's been sunny and warm all week in the 70's and they say it's staying that way! So the snow should be gone by Sunday!
Anyway I love the look of a properly clay bar waxed car. I also like all the pics of seen here so far! Nice! Two thumbs up! I have so much work to do on my car..both bumpers have to be repairedl The front is going to require some work...both hit and runs...the rear will need some spot painting on the corner. I also need two new shocks and I ordered the KYB GR2's as the OEM's are no longer on warranty. New tires are also needed so I decided to change my mags too...and since i have seperate winters on Steel rims with Hub Caps I might sell the OEM's. Not sure how good the market is for that...Do I hear EBAY? Some pics from last year:http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n...eupGrille2.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n...Maximaside.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n...an/Maxhood.jpg |
also those chrome strips on the top sides of the car are a B*tch to polish.

The strips shine like new ones. |
you can get a claybar at just about any PepBoys type store. itll come with the car and a spray bottle of 'instant detailer' which is the lubricant you use for the job.
the bar shouldnt be more than $15. |
Just got the Mothers claybar, detailer and carnuba wax. Did all of them just now and I must say diiiaaaammm, what a shine. I have a wireless waxer and polisher, so much easier. Smooth as a baby's ***. Also on your chrome guys use steel wool....the 4 0000 steel wool that is, shines that chrome without any mess.
