Backed into this guy's car...

Long story short, I backed into this dude's Ford while leaving this restaurant. I didn't see him at all...I guess he got behind me at the last second or something. I put it into reverse, and tapped the gas a bit then *boom*....f*ck! I got out and this is what I saw...

Needless to say his front end owned my rear bumper. Not pleasant when a sedan and SUV gets into a fight...and DAMN Ford makes some solid bumpers! His car wasn't that badly damaged. Just a dent near the driver side fogs. Good thing was that no one was hurt. Sad day for my car. :wtc:

RacerX1320 May 1, 2008 07:40 PM

Looks cosmetic. New bumper tail light realign the trunk and your good to go! GL

GrimMax May 1, 2008 07:43 PM

Damn that sux bro!!

I agree though... not as bad as it could have been. The Greddy looks ok to me.. Is it fine?

AscendantMax May 1, 2008 07:49 PM

Yeah the Greddy is fine. That was one of the first thing I checked. Got on my stomach and looked at the muffler and its pipings. I would have cried if I saw the muffler all banged up. The trunk won't latch, so yeah it def needs alignment.

sammy1 May 1, 2008 08:04 PM

Sorry to hear about your acident. At least your OK. one of the tailights is busted...might as well upgrade to the new LED tailights now

STARR May 1, 2008 08:23 PM

That sucks, the Escape looks fine, doubt the guy will replace the front end

kamski May 1, 2008 08:30 PM

looks like he kicked your azss bro.

lowpro19s May 1, 2008 08:31 PM

I agree you could get the LED'S now. You can tell that he does'nt even care about his "truck" anyway from all the bug juice and splatter on the hood and front. He'll probably just pocket the free money. Surely he wont invest in a carwash..

SmokeNismo May 1, 2008 08:32 PM

Time for an 07-08 rear bumper. Sorry about your misfortune though.

AscendantMax May 1, 2008 08:42 PM

yeah i'm eyeing those LED tails...isn't the GD over though?

IHAVEA2KMAXIMA May 1, 2008 09:26 PM

His front tires are bald

But for you... new LED tails and 08 bumpers =)

Funniest thing I read all day!!

Apollos2 May 2, 2008 11:45 AM

Man, sorry to see that. Is he trying to make you pay for anything on his truck, doesn't look like it did anythin except maybe wipe a few bugs off. It's could be an opportunity to upgrade if you like. Should be lots of OEM tails out there if you want to stay stock.

AscendantMax May 2, 2008 11:48 AM

i think i'll just stick with the 04-06 bumper. i'm highly considering the LEDs now ;)

Wow I didn't even see that down there. You gonna try to pull it or just get a replacement. Probably won't have to paint it, looks plastic bumper gray. :D

chernmax May 2, 2008 12:11 PM

Agree, get the new LED tails lights and 07-08 rear bumper...

AscendantMax May 2, 2008 07:18 PM

just ordered the red LED tails. :)

much thanks to max2damax for the help. :D

MAX2DAMAX May 2, 2008 07:19 PM

here to help :)

eK9aT10pSi May 2, 2008 07:25 PM

lookin for a bumper?

Hilbe May 2, 2008 07:41 PM

You may need a new bumper and reinforcement. The bumper itself is like $250 + another $250 for the reinforcement if you need it. Paint on top of that, you're looking at a $1000 project without the tail light...

I'd do the 2007 bumper and LED tail :)

6thGenSmoke May 2, 2008 11:58 PM

dang man...sorry to see that. Im gonna be jealous of them led tail lights when you get them installed. i would get them too but got no money right now. Hopefully i'll see them around campus during the summer if you taking any classes or at any meets we may have.

AscendantMax May 3, 2008 03:54 PM

yeah his bumper is just plain plastic gray.

6thgensmoke, you'll probably see me at the rec center. not taking classes though.

xoomer.com May 5, 2008 08:47 AM

Dang I would have been PISSED. So much damage from a "little bump". GL

STARR May 6, 2008 08:04 PM

I would beg to differ here. I took 2 pretty good hits straight on in the rear (sorry for sounding gay) and the first one was little more than cosmetic and the second just cracked the shell. Thank god!. I was impressed how the maxie took it especially the second time I got rear ended at close to 50 MPH.

damn! 50 mph??

i can't imagine what that would look like considering the amount of damage mine took from backing up 5-10 mph.

Juansito May 7, 2008 10:44 PM

DAMNN you **** is ****ED up!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to see, but sometimes this means its time for more upgrades.

honpre May 8, 2008 03:24 AM

Sorry about your troubles. I know how I feel about a few little scratches on my bumpers, I can imagine what you were feeling. :bawling::bawling::bawling:

Difference here is i took it straigh in and not at a stop you went at an angle and hit the empty spot right below the light.

I'll post pics (if I can find) of the minimal damage I expirienced.. I was going like 50 and the drunk dude rear ended me from behind at llike over 70. Scared tha hell out of me as seconds earlier I looked in the rear view and nobody was there. It was lound bang, the car almost flew off the road, dude didn't want to pull over so I had to litterally block him. Bumper was cracket at the top but when I told my co-workers what happened they were like where did you get hit. If you weren't close to the car, you wouldn't see all the damage. The shell obviuosly was destroyed but the bumper underneath didn't have to be replaced.

The worst of it all was being all scared about my little one who was in the car with us (2 months at that time)

Now if i was at a dead stop and got rammed at 50 that would have been a completely different story but I've seen pictures posted here proving maxima to be a safe car. You may not use that care again, but if you can safely walk away and buy another one, that would be all you need my friend.

KC2010 May 8, 2008 07:50 AM

I'd rather take a kick to the nads than have this happen. I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. If you love your car as much as I love mine, it hurts to see your max in pain.

Mikey D May 8, 2008 03:05 PM

07-08 bumper and led tails!

MaxJ04 May 9, 2008 09:24 PM

put in some elbow grease and buff that sucker right out ... lol Goodluck on the repair bro. i feel your pain everytime i see my max being bumped on the street.
