HID's in Reverse Lights

Yeah so I got to installing 15k HIDs in my reverse lights. They come on with the reverse and with an independent switch I wired up.

Sorry for the ****ty camera phone pics.

AscendantMax May 3, 2008 09:47 PM

overkill IMO. but interesting none-the-less.

and pics of the light on the road?

xorbitman May 3, 2008 10:25 PM

Good for blinding badasses that tailgate and meet at trafic lights.

po8pimp May 3, 2008 10:27 PM

I have been trying for ever to find a way to see better at night when reversing. maybe this is the solution. cool idea. now you should get the new led tails that everyone is hyped about and put the reverse lights in them. :)

DeusExMaxima May 3, 2008 10:28 PM

Looks great!! We need better lights for reverse.

CanadianMoFo May 4, 2008 05:31 AM

So just how bright are they? Like obscenely bright, or just profanely bright? Pics showing the view out the back please.

Also what bulb did you use?

Hilbe May 4, 2008 06:01 AM

Here are the 9 LED ones I just put in mine...

Holy cow those are bright. Hell if they're HID's in the Reverse lights, someone might think you are driving towards them if ya throw it in reverse at a stop light. Maybe you could post some more pics right about dusk. That way we can see the set up, the brightness during the day without the 'glow' around the light. Other than that good job. Post up the step by step guide on your re-wiring / install.

That's for sure.

I would also like to see some more pics and get some details on what kind of bulbs etc.

Torgus May 4, 2008 08:23 AM

hot.

jsmithsole May 4, 2008 10:18 AM

I'd like to see more pics, and how much did you pay? The only ones I have seen have been the same price as reg HID upgrades, around $200 (way too much for reverse lights IMO)

sleepymax May 4, 2008 10:23 AM

Not bad kid.Feeling the plates,is that HAMLIN?FEDEX car?

:sprint: on the overkill and being interesting.

I could see people getting confused while your reversing lolol

farzin1 May 4, 2008 07:55 PM

I think this is pushing it to the limits a little, but looks unique and hot. I like the led reverse light

bb700092 May 4, 2008 08:00 PM

I really like it. I have only 35% tint and its difficult to see when reversing at night (I depend heavily on my backup sensors). I would get those if reasonably priced.

NismoMax80 May 4, 2008 08:11 PM

good luck ever passing inspection. and look for cops before reversing.

Solow1 May 4, 2008 08:30 PM

damn i wouldnt even have taught of that.... interesting...

+1

i just think it is absolutely over the top. why not just go w/ simple LED's? there just reverse lights.

thank god you didn't do HID turn signal lights...........

xoomer.com May 5, 2008 08:11 AM

I guess you get points for being first to implement but Mark (deus) was first to even mention/ask for it. That is crazy bright.

How about HIDs in the little green arrows on the dash??????

RacerX1320 May 5, 2008 08:42 AM

Reg hyperwhites for me. Im good with that.

IHAVEA2KMAXIMA May 5, 2008 09:45 AM

Do you wait for them to warm up first then reverse? :)

To solve the problem of tailgaters, I simply slam the brakes.

ROFL!!!:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

DeusExMaxima May 6, 2008 09:36 AM

I'd like to see a shot of the lights with the light shining on the street. HOw is your visibility when backing up now?

OMARL956 May 8, 2008 11:27 AM

that looks pimpin bro i give you props on that idea i for sure need a set.

gtr_rider May 8, 2008 11:57 AM

I give those bulbs and ballasts a week and they will be blown..

maX5 May 8, 2008 12:17 PM

I will get pics tonight of how much they light the road. They light up a lotttt.

A week ? They barely get turned on..... only when I pull it into reverse or when I flick the switch on. Its not like they're constantly getting turned on and off repeatedly.

MaxFanatik May 8, 2008 12:20 PM

that switch is tits (as my mechanic says) !!! for ppl that drive with hibeams behind u or tailgate u!!!!

QNO_A32 May 8, 2008 01:51 PM

sick

um yes they are. every time you put it Drive or Park, you pass over Reverse. So you're flicking them on/off at least 2 times when you drive the car.

Majestic Ken May 8, 2008 02:20 PM

most of us go through darker areas so i wouldnt call it a stupid idea. I was wondering if someone on here was gonna do this. i've seen some on Umnitza also. it is great for tailgaters at the light:mad: and its also a plus for us blacked out tail guys and 15% and below tint. would also move people out of the way while you're backing up at meets or just gather arounds when they dont move:D

Mikey D May 8, 2008 02:35 PM

they look sick but not worth the money

Idea is :bowrofl: but... no. It will be even funnier seeing the flash behind your car every time you shift from park to drive.

Oh yeah: only in a 6th gen :hide:

normal ones...albeit a bit slanty. https://www.houston-imports.com/foru...milies/bow.gif

not all of houston's streets are lit up...but i can still see fine at night. to each of their own i guess. but if that was me, i'd invest the money else where on the car. :gotme:

irishkid4evr May 8, 2008 09:01 PM

how hard was it to install the hid for backup lights thats kool where can i go buy the kit?...

Did this 3 years ago, have it on my M5 now, it's invaluable for those times when - just a simple "hazard" won't do;)
