More Carbon Fiber On 6th Gens???
 

Hey guys, Im thinking about going to some companies and asking about fabricating certain parts for our Maximas.

I see the 5th gens and 4th gens have lots of carbon fiber parts to choose from, so why cant we???

For example, those plastic engine bay parts? The only carbon fiber piece we have so far is the engine cover...:goofy: Why not the rest of the engine bay pieces???

Maybe the stereo console or cup holder pieces???

How about having MAX2DAMAX chime in? Since he is coming up with a carbon fiber hood?

You can get this in carbon fiber. I don't have the snull knob anymore.

im actually thinking real replacement parts. i have interior overlays....

But judging by page views vs. response posts, no one is really interested in carbon fiber parts for 6th gens...

I am. But I dont foresee their being much interest by either the aftermarket companies or the Maxima owners.

Our aftermarket is dead, no one is willing to make anything....I'm still waiting on an 07 front bumper lip...doubt it will ever happen...

i believe there is no interest because lack of products and demand.

i feel that if there were more than 1 carbon fiber part for our cars, we would have more interest in fabricating more parts.

I could live with it. I have tinted windows and how often do you really use the fold in feature?

i would love to see cf doors like the evo has....imo

I want an oem carbon fiber hood and trunk

i feel the reason why there is not a big interest in carbon fiber parts is because compared to other cars lets say honda or acura for example... carbon fiber hoods are 500$ ours are like 750$ and group deals they get it even lower so the price range is kinda differnce... i'm sorry but the first dozen who purchase these makes up for everyone after ..but who has money to pay for this ontop of a car note? its kinda hard right now our cars are fairly new still not to add 4-6 has the same hood but 07 is different so your gona lose some buyers... theres alot against us

Not quite, if you look at the GB for the fist 15 CF hoods will be $599, so the first who group of people who buy this hoods will be getting a good deal since the msrp will be about 700 after that,

In a way your are right since we are dealing with a really small amount of orders compared to how many honda civics buy after market stuff out there, so its just the law of supply and demand that drives the prices up.

yea and i agree with you also .. but to add to that these cars say the tsx came out same yr as us and have the carbon fiber trunk and hood everywhere ... its about the racing community and they dont see us in it that's all... if the parts where in stores ready to purchase we would buy it ..but in turn we get 1 chance outta the year to purchase products and most of us cant drop the 500+ on parts after car payments everything takes time that's why group deals dont work out for us... just my .02


and also after the 1st dozen it jumps up to 700$... like i said you could find a cf hood for others like 500+ on any given day because they have multiple companys in competition...

i would like real CF interior pieces. not the overlay stickers. aluminum would be even better. as easily as oem scratches, there should be a need. but i think most would go the cheaper overlay route.

the hood and trunk also wouldn't sell as well as other models since our's are aluminum and it would be all for looks. where others rationalize looks and weight.

I normally am not a huge fan of CF stickers, but when I was at SEMA this year I came across a CF dash overlay made by Sherwood that was REALLY nice. When the time comes, I think I will get it, but I wont make everything CF, just a few things. I use the Mercedes Black Series as an example of tasteful CF applications to the interior

I want a nice CF hood but with some type of functional hood scoop to help dissipate heat...

That is the real key, heat dissipation. It get so hot in the engine compartment. Some venting to allow the hot air to rise or blow out would be perfect. If you don't get weight reduction, maybe we can still get some function. I was thinking more along the lines of a "slotted" hood or something like that. It would have to be subtle imo so as not to rice out the car. Heck the majority of 6thgens never see a track anyway, so it wouldn't have to be huge slots. I guess I really don't know how much venting would be needed to actually make a difference though.

Agreed, but even not boosted the engine compartments heat up a lot. I know we are getting off topic here but found some cut in vents here:

We would need a photoshop guru to give us an idea what it might look like.

As far as the on topic discussion. I could possible go for some CF side piller covers. But CF for the most part doesn't fit with the rest of my car, maybe some interior parts but when it comes to modding $$ I'd probably spend it somewhere else first.

That looks great but with the vents going down, I may not be able to close the hood because my Turbo is mounted high on the drivers side.
