I give up. You guys just keep throwing HID kits into halogen projectors and think it's just as good. Back to Hidplanet for me.

salomon 10-20-2008 12:01 PM

i have a question... i just installed 6k 9006 hid kit for my 07 max. they look great but i have a problem. has any1 that installed the kit have both light aiming to the left? could it be fixed?

uncommon 10-20-2008 01:25 PM

Not to hijack but can anyone tell me how to replace a headlight bulb in my 2005?

Such a "newb" question I know, but it seems as though they made it pretty awkward to do unless you take out a bunch of stuff to get to the back of the headlight itself.

I would search or make a thread but am not authorized to do such just yet.

yellowfellow90 10-20-2008 05:10 PM

i have a 07 se and installed some hid here what i did i went on ebay found one hid headlight and then found someone on here selling the other side i bought both headlights for a total of about $600 i replaced my old headlights non hid of course took those and posted them on ebay for $450 buy it now with a $50 shipping they sold in about 3 days so im out of pocket about $150 but its not bad because i didnt have to go threw the process of baking the headlights

salomon 10-21-2008 11:41 AM

has anyone had a issue installing hid's in halogen projectors? i have a hid kit on my car at the moment and the lights aim to the left. u think its because of the projectors?

Houstonhulk 10-21-2008 06:43 PM

Has anyone actually used this website?

http://www.vvme.com/

Are their kits any good?

08MaxCash 10-22-2008 05:17 PM

ok i have an 08 do i have to change all this stuff you guys r talkin about or can i juz buy the hid kit itself??

ldc2335 10-24-2008 06:12 AM

ok i just read a hundred post, and no one can come up with a straight answer for bulb size on an 2005

9005 or 9006

i think its actually a 9012 hir bulb, but im not sure which replaces it since they dont make 9012 hid kits

you need the 9006 bulb for your cars headlights

BlackSpeed 10-26-2008 09:10 PM

Definitely the 9006. The O-Ring in the 9005 does not fit snug in the projector. This answer is based on fact --> I bought the 9005's out of stupidity (not researching) and hope and pray that you guys dont make the same mistake.

If u have prrof of nissan making a hid projector and a halogen projector please provide actual proof, cause u r wrong

Please go and do your research before you run your mouth. There are xenon projectors and halogen projectors. Here's your proof: e55 bi-xenon projector, which is in the xenon equipped 6th gen Maxima on the left and the bi-halogen projector found in the halogen equipped 6th gen Maxima on the right.

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...L/IMGP0071.jpg

I have swapped the halogen projectors out for a pair of the e55 bi-xenons in my own 2007 Maxima so I know first hand that they are different.

This post totally confuses me. Leaving the e55 projector out of the equation --> Does the 2004-2006 Maxima Non halogen and HID series head lights have the same projectors. I understand the fact that there a two different projectors that reside in a parallel universe outside of Nissan but does Nissan put the same projector in all lights for the Max?

sonikbewm 10-27-2008 06:51 AM

All 6th gen's with HIDs from the factory use the e55 bi-xenon projector.

Do you have to drill a hole in the cap that seals the projector housing in order to feed the wires out to hook it up to the ballasts? Im sure this is a dumb question but i a concerned with condensation. Any advice on the best way to do it?

salomon 11-15-2008 05:25 PM

cubbyjg yes you have to drill a hole.

salomon 11-15-2008 05:27 PM

i have a question also. has any1 had any problems with the lights aiming to the left after installing hid's on a 07 maxima? is there a way to fix it?

Sickler 11-15-2008 05:53 PM

wow those headlight are alot!!!

salomon 11-18-2008 04:20 PM

ok since i cant put up a thread ill put it under here.
i was just curious, everyone that has put hid's on there 07-08 maximas, have you guys ran into any problems like the lights aiming to the left. i took a pic of the lights to see what im talking about

http://i452.photobucket.com/albums/q...s/DSC01958.jpg

ii really dont think the lights are suppose to aim to the left. or are they?

sonikbewm 11-18-2008 06:49 PM

That is why you don't put a HID kit in the halogen projectors. Been there done that with the exact same results as you. Now I have all real xenon parts and it works like it's supposed to.

DEENYCE718 11-19-2008 08:07 AM

I think after reading all this, Im gonna steer clear of the kits. So what would the cost be to do all this retrofitting? I wanna do it right but dont wanna shell out crazy money, could someone lead me in the right direction as to where to go or what I need to complete this. I got an 04 with stock halogen lights.

Cheapest route to go would be on eBay. Get e55 bi-xenon projectors, oem ballasts and 4300k D2S bulbs from either Phillips or Osram.

Propa Teknique 11-26-2008 11:33 AM

Planning on getting these... Which though?

I have enclosed two links of two different looking e55 Projectors. I decided to take Sonik's advice and buy some projectors. The two look different though, so which one would fit the 2004 Max?? One stated that it fitted cars with a 3" lens... I dont know what size our lens is... any help with this?

After I confirm I plan to buy and Sonik mentioned 4300K... but could I choose a different color temp like 8000K or 15000K... I just like purplish color it emits but would like to stick with the "brightest" white... andy info let me know

I am converting my 04 Bumper to the 2007 Bumper so I will need some updated fogs also for the ones in the bumper and the front fogs on the side of the HID's... what sizes do I get for those two and can the fogs in the bumper be routed to the front fogs on the side of the HID's and work at the same time?

Does everything bolt in and plug right up? i.e. Do the non-hid equipped maximas have a harness that plugs into the ballast?

It also looks like there were additional pieces on the e55 projector you compared in your picture.

If you took any other pictures of your install, that would be really helpful.

I'm looking to do this as well and want to make sure I have all the parts.

sonikbewm 11-28-2008 08:24 AM

The 2nd eBay link you posted is what you want. We do not have adaptive or AFS systems on our cars (projector turns when you turn the steering wheel).

The picture that I posted earlier was just to compare the 2 projectors. That e55 was not from a Maxima so it had an additional piece for it to mount into the car.

Sorry, that was a picture I got from someone else comparing the two projectors. The e55 in the comparison picture was from a different car so it had an additional piece on it. The above posts 2nd eBay link shows what you want. Everything bolts right up and plugs in. When you buy the ballasts, make sure that you get the harness that goes to it and you should only have to splice into your factory harness for power. When I did this to my car, I bought 2 junk housings so I had the xenon wiring harnesses. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the install. Basically all you do is bake the headlight assembly and remove the 4 little silver screws that hold the projector into the housing. Remove the halogen projector and replace with the e55 bi-xenon. It mounts with the same screws in the exact same holes. Drill a big hole in the bottom of the headlight housing for the ballast wires to run up into (if you get the OEM ballasts that the Max uses that mount to the bottom side of the housing). Put the assembly back in the oven to reseal it. Run the wires, mount the ballast, put in the bulbs and connect everything.

If you absolutely have to go with a higher K bulb, 6000k is the highest I would go. Otherwise your halogens will be just as bright if not brighter.

Thanks sonik... you have been a big help... I had also asked about the fogs in my last post... do you think you can help me out with that also??

sonikbewm 12-07-2008 09:05 PM

The 07-08 fog light bulbs are H11, the earlier years are H3. I'm sure there's a way to run them both at the same time. I think some other people on this forum as well as 6thgenmaxima.org are doing it.

I just bought and received the bi-xenon projectors, 2 ballasts, and 6000k bulbs... that is all I need right???

Yeah, that's it. Just install them and wire them up and you are good to go.

hey propa, i did this a few months ago. converted to the 07-08 front end. i had oem hids but i went from 4300 to 6k. for the fogs, i ended up building a relay harness and wired up h11 3k 35w hid's and couldnt be happier. i have mine triggered to come on the same way the oem ones [04-06] power up.

That looks so factory! I love it! I have the 08 front and rear bumper which I'm about to paint and mount on the car and I have the grille also along with all the HID accessories but I dont know what to do with the fogs...

How did you build a relay, what is all you needed to do so, and did you get factory 07-08 fog lights/housings/bulbs or did you just get regular fog lights that were universal? I'm trying to get my fogs setup too so I can wire them to the fogs in the headlights...

Maximusle 07-14-2009 12:03 AM

I have an 07 Maxima with non/HID/D2S, just the plain/stock 9012 bulbs. At certain angles you get a little purple tint but not much. I was wondering if I just replace the 9012 with aftermarket 9006 bulbs will that work without all conversion kits, etc... Just simply swap the stock 9012 with 9006 bulbs? I know it will never be as good as HID/D2S like the 350Z or BMW's but as long as its better than stock and is either white or bluish i'll be happy. Stock bulbs just suck.
