Adding HID's to 08 SE that doesn't have them?
Okay, just a thought. First of all I don't own an 08 max yet, but would love to have one. Can you add HID's to the 3.5 SE model that doesn't already have them equipped? Does the SE without the premium package have the same projectors as the one's with the premium package? If not, can the HID headlights be bought from the service department? Many thanks!

I am intereseted in this topic also. My wife recently got an 06 3.5 SE and I was under the impression that all 6th gen Maximas had HID headlights. I drove it at night for the first time the other night and the headlights suck!
Her vision isn't very good at night, and I want the better visibility offered by the HID's. If I buy the correct bulbs from an aftermarket supplier will I need anything else... such as ballasts or wiring harnesses? Or do the HID's simply plug right in???

if u are gettin a 08 max you have to get the bulb size 9006 for the head lights which will replace the stock 9012 bulbs and for the fog lights the bulb size is H11.I bought a black 07 maxima same as 08 and it didnt come with the hids so i bought the 8k hid kit for the headlights and a pair of yellow piaa bulbs for the fogs and it looks great i got everything from a local performance store i paid 250 for the hid kit and 65 for the fog bulbs and installed it myself.

Go to eBay and do a search for e55 projector. They are a direct swap for the crap halogen projector and then you'll just need to get some OEM ballasts and some new 4300k d2s bulbs, which can be found on eBay as well. You'll be much happier with this method than you would be if you bought some cheap 9006 HID kit somewhere.

i CAN GET VERY VERY NICE HID KITS FOR 100 BUCKS A SET, AND BULB AND COLOR FROM 3000K TO 30000K. ONE HID KIT FOR HEADLAMPS AND ONE KIT FOR FOG LAMPS. LET ME KNOW IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED, 100 BUCKS FOR A ONE YEAR WARANTEE AS WELL.

www.vvme.com is a really good website

That's great but you also get very poor light output and terrible hot spot problems for that $100. Spend the extra money and get nice even light output that's useful and not just for looks.

Sooooo I saw some HID kits on Ebay.. it came with the Headlight and HIDs already installed.. they look the same as factory so what exactly is the different in getting a vehicle with HID and an HID kit placed onto a non-HID Max? Im thinking Ill just go with the HID kits... like 8,000 or 10,000k

No you wrong, theyre just as good the market for HIDS has gone down dramatically. Out here in NewYork they go for $100 any type K you want with warranty and soforth. Back to topic all you have to do is find the replacement bulb type and just buy HID kit that correspond to that bulb play and play as we say..

sonic, u r way of, a projector is a projector. they do not make one project for hids and one for halogen. they just add a dofferent wiring, ballast that mounts to the bottom of the light and the bulb, and a ground inside the light, aftermarket kits are great and save u hundreds of dollars. If u have prrof of nissan making a hid projector and a halogen projector please provide actual proof, cause u r wrong

I have an '08 w/out HID and at night these lights are just aweful. However, I quickly learned to leave the fogs on 100% of the time and the combo is just about perfect. On an '04-'06 I'd say the HID is a must as the "fogs" are useless on those.

I have swapped the halogen projectors out for a pair of the e55 bi-xenons in my own 2007 Maxima so I know first hand that they are different.

The projector bowl determines how the light is distributed. Halogen based projectors focus the light directly in front of you, xenon based projectors are able to disperse the light further to the left and right of the car. Xenon projectors are also able to disperse the light more evenly. I'll just let these pictures do the talking. First picture is a 6th gen with halogen projectors and a HID kit, 2nd picture is a 6th gen with real xenon projectors.
