replacing rear rotors
#6
Thanks to all responders very much. I took another look at it today and there's not much rust and the rotor probably can be recut. I was afraid I'd have to remove the torque member as well as the caliper, and the bolts that hold it can be a bear to unscrew, so it's good to hear that won't be necessary. Just for fun, got a price today from my dealer, who wanted $580 for front brakes (with new rotors)--did myself with aftermarket parts for $200. Dealer wanted 400 for rears (with recutting of rotors), which I can do for about $60 (If rear rotors can be recut). I think I'm going to be saving about 800 and change, for a few hours' work. I also flushed brake lines with new fluid--they needed it after almost 5 years--don't forget to do this part of the job, fellas.
