AUX Cable for 07 Maxima

Quick question:

Where can I get a cable that will connect directly from my iPod or other MP3 device into the AUX IN of a stereo for an 07 Maxima (no navi, Bose 6 disc)????

The dealer tried telling me I needed to spend about $250-$300 for a harness kit??? This doesn't seem right, considering an AUX jack is right there!!!!!
Thanks.

Bought mine at Circuit City for about $15.00.

So any type of electronics store should have them.

(Circuit City-Best Buy- maybe Radio Shack)

What the dealer was quoting was likely the full ipod integration kit, which will get you steering wheel control and ipod charging - also slightly better quality since you bypass the headphone amplifier in the ipod.

For the simplest cheapest connection that will work with virtually any player, all you need is a patch cable with 3.5mm male stereo plugs on each end:

Connects Headphone Out to AUX IN. Of course you will have to control and charge the ipod directly.

$2.97 each here: http://www.cyberguys.com/templates/S...productID=1574

For an ipod, there are also simple adaptors that plug into the dock connector on an ipod and give you a line out - some are dual RCA plugs (requiring a dual RCA jack to 3.5mm plug adaptor to plug into the AUX IN):

...and some have 3.5mm jacks (requiring the same 3.5mm-3.5mm cable as above - advantage being that the dock connector is a true line out and bypasses the headphone amplifier for a cleaner signal):

These dock adaptors typically run $20 and up, depending on additional features... some have USB or Firewire connections.

This one from Belkin has a 12V charger with a 3.5mm line out jack ... MSRP is $39.99 ($19.99 on Amazon):

you guys sure its a 3.5mm?? I know the output on the players are 3.5mm but the car stereo seems smaller (like maybe 2.5mm).

For example, the standard headphones fit in the ipod but the 3.5mm is too big for the aux input in the car.....

This seems minor, since I pretty electronics savvy, but been out of the game for a while...

Absolutely, positively, its 3.5mm (on my '07 Max non-Nav, anyway). Cable fits either way... headphone and AUX jacks are identical. Use mine all the time.

Probably gonna pick up one of the Belkin units to bypass the headphone amp. Wish it was black instead of white, though.

If the car wasn't leased I would have put in the OEM ipod integration kit, but not worth it on a lease. I had a USA-Spec integration kit in my Volvo and it was great... kept the ipod out of site in the glove box and controlled everything from head unit or wheel controls. Kept it charged, too.

I got mine from the Apple store. It bypasses the headphone amp and charges the unit at the same time. I believe it was $29.

No it's not the FM transmitter. They suck compared to the direct plug in. The one I purchased a few years ago has been beefed up a bit and now sells for $49 in the apple Istore.

Check this out http://www.inspiretech.com/p-16-ipod...aux-cable.aspx

It's only $7.99 but it doesn't charge the unit. Otherwise it's the same as mine.

Alright, I get the dunce cap for the day!!!!

It is your standard 3.5mm jack. I just never wanted to "force" it there after I felt the resistance...

Going to buy a 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm cable during lunch!!!

Hey, at least I was being careful with the ride...

Well, even though it would be $49, I'm still interested in taking a look at it, at least...

I am telling you for the AUX plug it is pretty much just an adapter with a 3.5 head phone plug on each end and you can get it at Circuit City-Best Buy or Radio Shack for around $21.99 or less and below is the Belken part number from Circuit City.

Belkin 6' 3.5mm Audio Cable for iPod

Model #: BLK F8V20306APL

You will have to plug the car charger in to your Ipod to charge it while you are playing it because this cable plugs in to the head phone out and not the charger plug in. So you should be able to run both.

Just an FYI which you probably already heard but if you plug through the headphone jack the sound quality won't be as good. Spend a couple extra bucks and you'll be happy.

If you're interested in charging capabilities as well get this unit form apple. http://store.apple.com/us/product/TQ076LL/A

It's the newer version of what I currently have.

This one is pretty sweet too. It comes with a wireless remote. http://store.apple.com/us/product/TR...Q&mco=ODI2NDY4

Thanks. I think I'm sold on the second one, with the remote control (I miss that about my old car)

You should buy Gold tip AUX cable for better sound quality.

go ebay. they have the one that retract it way better for about $5 no shipping By retracting it is a lot neater and when you dont use it you can just leave it plugged in with no problems. the sound quality will be better then burning the same songs to an mp3 disk.

If you simply need the AUX cable, nothing more, check your dollar store. If they don't have it, get it here for $1.60, free shipping:
