I stand corrected.

DrunkieTheBear 11-03-2008 08:55 PM

do you want performance based cams, stock cams what?

this thread is very vague but I can think of about a dozen cams out there for the 3.5s and they all fit.

SmokeNismo 11-03-2008 08:56 PM

Could it be the normal DE, then the one from the '06 Z with the Uprev(7k rpm redline), and third one is the HR?

If so, ours are the first type of VQ35 with 6600rpm redline.

Well that Z is also TT'ed so that might change up the sound a bit too. And that Idle is quite erratic, the revs are probably going up and down by about 200-300rpm every 2 seconds or so.

Stage 3 is waaay more than you would need for an NA Maxima. You will probably lose all low end power and only make power past 5500rpm.

You may get more help in the All Motor section. There are also quite a few stickies in there regarding cams.

And at about $1,500 for cams they should sound that good.

As far as HR and uprev there have been guys who have done them but you should read up on it cause you need to be of certain bolts to use. KRRZ350 made a discovery about it.

Lastly, the S1 knockoffs are the best your and cheapest bet really and are well rounded and not too aggressive

!PrjctMax! 11-05-2008 02:34 PM

Cams should be the last thing you do on a n/a car. Do all the other bolt-ons before you take the leap on paying as much for labor as the cams...exaggeration, but close to it.

Fastmax05 11-05-2008 02:41 PM

To the Opening Poster... what mods do you have done LOL...

+1 on our cars, I've seen quotes from $1,200-$2,000 on cam installs....

There is still the timing advance, 3" big bore MAF, headers, and depending on whether if your a manual a Lightweight flywheel. I would also reduce the weight of rotational mass by getting 2-piece rotors and lighter rims. Then go for cams.

And seeing how deus comes back with results on the 3" single exhaust.

drzcrazychulo4u 11-05-2008 04:51 PM

im an auto and wats big bore???

Its a mod for you MAF enlarging it will allow for more air (dyno proven), enlarging the entire intake stack to a 3" inner diameter will provide better airflow and mostly more power up top.

drzcrazychulo4u 11-05-2008 06:59 PM

isant that like porting and gutting the intake manifold??

Uh... no thats the SSIM you "said" you have done... LOL ...

so u have just a throttle body spacer... not the whole kit??

DrunkieTheBear 11-05-2008 09:24 PM

NiZMo1o1 11-05-2008 09:39 PM

you looking for an expensive install on cams.. your only bet is the jdm cams or s1 knockoffs like Dave said.

Anything after that your looking at upgrading valve train and head bolts, springs , retainers..

This should be last of your mods , looking into a ECU or some sort before you start knocking internally

drzcrazychulo4u 11-06-2008 06:28 AM

no well i have the whole kit installed

That should be done in any aftermarket cam install anyhow.

AllBlackMax 11-07-2008 06:21 PM

Seems to me all cams do is rob your bottom end and give it to the top end. Talk about rob Peter to pay Paul. Perhaps if I saw a cam install with a AFC tune would change my mind.

NmexMAX 11-07-2008 11:55 PM

It's more than an ' AFC tune'... more like a CVTC&IGN&AFC 'AFR' 'tune' that makes a difference...IMO...

Cams are overrated...unless you understand them, (as in peak lift / duration and how that value does not make the 'ultimate' difference)

vq35demaxima dan 11-08-2008 11:52 PM

can youbolt on a pathfinder tb cause i know theyre big

NmexMAX 11-09-2008 12:23 AM

Sure.

DrunkieTheBear 11-09-2008 10:07 AM

how about a VH45 TB to a 350z Plenum :hide:
