CAI Injen Universal Heat Shield !!!!

I was gonna fabricate my own then I came across this http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/de...24HS3600P.html
Its also the cheapest I could find..
So what's the verdict yay or nay?
Reason why I'm interested is I went short ram..

myer84 11-19-2008 04:33 AM

I like. I moght go for this since I'm also considering making my own, just been too busy to start it. I wonder if I it would work with the Nismo intake. I made it short ram as well.

Fastmax05 11-19-2008 09:35 AM

I just bought that heat shield minus the "injen" logo for 8.95 on ebay. Same exact thing.

I've seen those. I heard they're crap though.

To spend 9 bucks to find out isn't that painful, right?

Nah of course not man. If it works it works, if its crap then whatever.

KC2010 12-02-2008 12:33 PM

To be honest, I could probably fab a better heat shield than what I bought. I'm just lazy and it's easier to hit the "buy now" button.

It's understandable man I probably would have done the same.

I bought the same one of fleabay, but it was $19 with shipping. Looks the same and it does work. Cold to the touch after 25 miles (I checked when I got home from work)

KC2010 12-03-2008 05:48 AM

I wonder if there's some type of spray on insulator to apply to the back side of the shield to promote better heat resistance. Any ideas?

why short ram ? isn't cold air is better for our cars ? or no ? cai is for top end NO ?

KC2010 12-03-2008 10:09 AM

I have a Berk intake. The filter is tucked away by the battery. I live in Houston and it floods out here. I work for the office of emergency management so I have to drive in bad weather condition. I don't need to worry about hydro-lock.

So I chose a mid-size intake. Far enough away from the engine but not in my fender well.

I guess you could debate if it's a short ram or a true cai but I think you'll find other threads about this topic. When I was looking into buying one I found hundreds of them. :D

i was wondering about this but still cant think of what would be better for the right price if anyone has a dyno sheet that shows which ran better on the same car i think that would show if cai or short ram is better. also nice carbon fiber shield looks nice
