Hello, new to the forum too. I have 195,419 miles. Car was very well cared for aesthetically and mech. Long distance commute for original owner till about 170,xxx, then beaten badly by a highschool teen for about 15K. couldn't drive w/ 3 pedals I suppose (found out after purchase) Timing chain grinds during start up, and between gear changes (off throttle) Got a good deal, car is strong still, but needs engine mount(s), timing set, struts and springs. Bad torque steer primarily at highway speed, which i find a little bizarre. Everything works except sunroof. Bought it because of the 6sp, and the VQ durability. Didnt realize the chain was f'd till i had the car for a week. never made a sound till it was mine and legal. Sorry for the lengthy post, I hope this Forum will be a valuable asset, and I can afford the repairs to keep it. My friend has a 2005 Sentra SER Spec V with header, intake, large throttle body, and less than a 1/4 of the miles. Our cars are dead even. Rolling start, red light to red light, it eats him up. Like the car, hate the color. love the surprise when you pull someone hard that never seen it coming. its a beige sedan. With a Z engine. Kinda.

Kilometerage

Bought beginning of 2015 with 214000km now I'm at 238000km. I figure you should expect 300000k out of a V6 at least.

Tranny life is more of a concern for me since its newer tech. I changed the CVT fluid at Nissan for 300$ when I bought it and its completely silent all I hear is the engine. The people with a trans whine might want to change fluid.

Rust is the biggest problem I'm having, and from weird places like top of windshield, top of strut mounts. Seems like really cheap metal.

You'd think so wouldn't you. Ive had about 6 pathfinders and 4x4s with the VG30. Lowest had 250kkm up to 450k. None of them ever quit or used much oil. Hope your 07 is better than my 03. Uses oil like it was gas. Really starting to believe what some say- the 90s was the peak of Japanese quality.

Really good rust-wise though. Just the usual around rear wheel wells.

Seems like the 90's was the peak of quality for a lot of manufacturers. My 99 Lumina was practically rust free when I scrapped it in 2012 i think it was. Well everything except the fluid lines. Got sick of coolant leaks so I thought I'd try Nissan.

Rust is about the only issue. Replaced driver floor pan when i bought it.

Exhaust is smelling a bit rich so I'm going to scan it soon and see if i can tell why.

Okay, I'm at 242k Miles with my 2004 I35 that I've owned since new. Concerned about timing chain and guide wear out. Should last lifetime of the engine? Okay, that's useful...
I'm the only mechanic this car has had. I think I'll be cracking open the engine front soon.

I'm glad to hear some of these engines ARE good. Gives me hope when I swap mine out. Obviously you've taken care of it.
Probably no hurry on the chain if it's not noisy but I'd wanna check too with the mileage. Plus it would be a shame to wreck a good motor!

I have a '04 with 130k on it. Transmission has been replaced a few years ago. Most recent repairs have been power steering hose replacement and oil cooler o-ring replacement.

Just passed 160k on my '02 awhile back. Bought the car used with 55k miles on it. It's burned a quart of oil almost exactly every 1k miles and still does. It's never had a check engine light and runs perfect.

From Craigslist about 2 wks ago. 06 SE 82K. Has a couple of issues: ABS lights are on and a squeal from rt front brake (I hope).
This is Maxima #2. Had a 94 from Sep 97 at 44K til Nov 14 at 210K.
Three kids through high school with it.

Got a 2004 SE 5at trans with 125k on it a few weeks ago, got a good deal since the abs and cel light was on the guides needed replaced and the owner thought it was going to throw a rod because of the start up noise, about to replace the guides and pre-cats with a y-pipe as well, hope i can get some good fun out of it for at least a year!
