How many miles does your max have now
#1042
Bought my '04 with 32000 miles on it the summer of 06. Now have 256000 miles on it. Most significant issue was ABS problem caused by rear passenger wheel. Was able to minimize it with ABS control module bought off wrecked car. Rust starting to show up around rear wheels and automatic transmission getting clunky. Timing Chain and guide is a big concern for me now. Had to repair rusty floor pan passenger side with AngelHair at about 150k.

04 v6 maxima had it for 3 years, it has163,000 miles i got it at 120,000 miles from my dad who bought it like new. I put new starter on it yesterday, left me stranded, not the first time and I guess wont be the last. It has been properly serviced all its life. My tires go flat all the time. So I bought all new tires. They still lose air, I have to keep air pump works off lighter in my car to keep tires aired up. Terrible noises come from engine bay from time to time. I just did timing chain kit because failed on me. Motor Mounts, AC compressor, valve cover gaskets, new shocks & struts because others decided to quit working, I have had to replace senors, fuses, batterieS, filters, braking system completely, down to ABS failure. Grounding issue that was causing car to stall in turns was fixed. Now when I am driving, it goes out of gear on its on then slams its self back into drive... at times I pull out at redlight, my maxima revs up while in drive... wont move forward must wait for it to decide to go into gear, slipping terrible. I baby it in hopes it will last until tax time. Its by far been worse money pit I have owned. I have nearly replaced entire car. Next I am ordering headlights because mine are so far gone driving at night sucks... headlights are wornout so are seals on majority of the car. Some rust issues I have to address tax time as well. I cant afford another car, I bought my wife new SUV, maxima is my work car but half time I am riding hers to work because maxima needs a day off for repairs. I dont hate the car but dang no joke... came here to read stuff on tranny issues probably only post I make, seemed fitting for thread.

I am sorry to say DMAC88 but that seems the norm for the 04 Maxima. It is the worse year for Nissan Maximas that I have ever seen. Check out www.carcomplaints.com. I have an 04 Maxima and an 08 BMW Z4 (Fun but repairs are a b***h!!). I may go Subaru next time.

116k and got at 100k
2007 3.5L have not touched CVT fluid and the entire car is 100% mechanical condition. Quite often take decent drives on demanding roads and push hard, the CVT just turns every action into a smooth, drawn-out motion. I am really liking the feeling of oneness with the accelerator and engine revs. Extremely satisfying on corners that you get perfect.
I definitely would take a Manual but... I prefer CVT over auto. Definitely excited for the future of CVT and I would be very keen to test somesort of charer or increase in torque as the CVT + Charger + the general VQ35 amazing torque.... now that would just be epic to drive right???
Have already got - Remus Cat Back/Lowered Suspension/Koni shocks at front/KYB dampers for rear/uprated springs. 18" 225/45 Direzza Dunlops
Plan is for cold air intake next. I don't see how it could make it sound any better though... Remus with that 3.5 man.... Okay I need to go for a drive now

I wanted to find specifically what exhaust system I had because I loved it so much, but being 10 years ago the only information I have is the 3-4 reviews that exist online. I have contacted both Remus Australia and Nissan but none of them really knew anything about the NZ Maxima Spec-R (we are kind of separate from the world down here).
It has a middle quite long cylinder muffler that connects to a y-pipe then two muffler + tips - is quite loud for what I thought 3 mufflers would sound like so must be designed properly
cat-back will definitely make your driving experience way more enjoyable

New to Forum
2007 Maxima I bought new now has 218000+ miles. Starting to overheat at stop lights and sitting still, idling. I noticed the AC cooling fan working but not the radiator fan. Where might the fuses be. Has anyone faced this problem with the fan? How did it get resolved. Love the car and looks like new. Thanks for reading.

2007 Maxima, I purchased it with 65k mile on it and it currently has right at 94k miles. Because my local dealers ALWAYS have oil special deals, I religiously get the oil changed every 3k miles (ish)... I would typically pay around $15 for an oil change. I've done the typical maintenance stuff, Rotors, breaks, air cabin filter, engine filter...
Things I fixed:
Things I fixed:
- Timing belt tensioner rattle (dealer repaired under extended warranty)
- High-pressure A/C line
- 1 TPS (Tire Pressure Sensor)
- High-pressure power steering line
- Leaking fuel regulator (What a PITA to remove and replace)
- Clockspring (another PITA because I have a heated steering wheel and it was tough to find)
- Rear Trunk shocks (Make sure you purchase the ones that state "With Spoiler" if you have a spoiler.)
- Fogs lights currently don't work. I have to rewire the hack job to have them on with the 6-O'clock lights.
- Transmission fluid drains and refill.
- Bleed and replace brake fluid
- Replace both HID bulbs, right now they don't match.

New Max owner..just purchased a 08 SL that is gorgeous inside and out with 100k. Previous owner is a retired school teacher and she kept it in the garage year round and it shows. Leather seats look like they have never been sit in. Love driving this thing. Good to see all the great reviews.

Bought my '08 SE in January 2016 with 101k for $8k from the dealer. Now 208k and gotta change a couple O2 sensors, gas mileage has gone to complete crap and think I've narrowed it to them.
While I've always loved Maxima's, dang has she been a money pit and a PITA to work on. Still love her.

200k maxima
bought my 2007 with 60k miles. it now has 200k miles. i drive roughly 130-150 (highway) miles a day.
Since purchasing the car I have replaced: all work done myself except for tires
Since purchasing the car I have replaced: all work done myself except for tires
- 4 tires twice
- all oil changes with walmarts synthetic high mileage
- radiator fluid twice
- changed VCT fluid twice and transmission filter once. last change i decided to use mobiles vct fluid to see if there was any truth to the myth that Nissan OEM fluid only or else
- serpentine belt & ac compressor belt
- low pressure ac line
- spark plugs twice
- 1 head light bulb because they are $60 a piece....get out of town!
- intake manifold, plenum, & throttle body gaskets but didn't really have to. they were still in great shape at 190k, cleaned the throttle body; had to do relearn procedure afterwards
- all break pads twice
- struts and rear shocks
- oil cooler gasket (it started a small drip one day) very common in cars
- battery once
- a p0345 camshaft position sensor occurred yesterday after i tried to start the car on the way home from work. purchased a couple of sensors off ebay for $15 for both. hopefully that fixes it

I bought a 2004 Maxima in March from my folks who bought it new. It only had 68k miles after 17 years. It is seriously MINT. I gave it to my son who just turned 16, and he is methodical about maintaining and cleaning it (like I would imagine we all were with our first ride).
