How do I spin my engine manually!?
Ok so I did my timing chain guide and tensioner a and etc and when I got it back together it was of course out of timing, well I plan to spin the engine manually from at the crank bolt until I get cylinder 1 at TDC then realign my chain links with marks and get her all back together and it seems pretty straight fwd but here's is my problem I can't seem to get my engine to spin very Easily, the gentlemen on YouTube seem to spin the engine with minimal resistance, should I remove the spark plugs to get her to spin easily? They are in now, are the spark plugs causing this resistance I'm feeling while trying to spin engine, I read on another forum it's the compression that I'm feeling, that sort of makes sense bc is feels almost like I'm fighting against an air lock? Any help would be great

Just tried putting her in neutral but it still does the same thing all the plugs are pulled and I still can't get past a quarter turn, I'm confused it seemed this would be pretty straight fwd but I guess not. It turns about a quarter turn both ways but I can't get any full revolutions let alone enough to get her back to top dead center cylinder #1.

you should be able to turn the crank manually with a socket and breaker bar without alot of force. its nothing to do with air or the spark plugs, i would agree with JvG that the piston is probably hitting a valve. whatever you do dont start the engine until you figure out whats up or else youre gonna bend something

starting the car is the best way to turn the engine.
worth that can happen is auto destruction of your engine, which will happen, because you obviously did something wrong, because the engine will not turn
glad I could help
