Got new transmission. Now 1st to 2nd isn't smooth. Q:
Guys I have a question for you. I just replaced my tranny. I was pissed! The thing now is at first my car wasn't shifting well from 1st to 2nd and 2nd back to 1st. All of the other gears are smooth. I was reading on the net that other people are having this problem and really it can't be fixed. Should I take it back to the tranny shop or just live with it. The more I drive my car the smoother it gets. I have a 3yr 36,000 mile warranty. If I deal with it will the shift from 1st - 2nd get progressively worse as my tranny did when it was slipping which eventually led me to get another transmission. Thanks in advance for the replies!!!

I think you should weigh your options. You take it back now and then what. Still not fixed. Or you wait till it gets ridiculously bad and take it in to get it fixed closer to the warranty expiring. If it seems to be getting better and it's tolerable I would wait till closer to the end of the warranty or until it breaks and get a new one from a different shop who should warrant their work and the part again. Unless this is the only shop you can go to. Milk the warranty is what I say. Make sure you keep complaining throughout though and ensure it gets on paper for your records.

Guys thanks for the reply. I love my car but I hate this sh@T! Nissan know they gave us a bad deal with this transmission issue! I will take it back until it's done right. I read on the net it's some type of sensor that needs to be replaced. I have the info at work. I will update you tomorrow with the part.

Sell. Seriously. Not worth the headache.

ask for a CVT seems to be doing well with the new Maximas and they have more hp and torque. Might be a boltup and done. Not entirely sure but worth a shot.

Guys I am taking my tranny back to the shop. I have this 3yr ATSG warranty. I will never go this route again! The killer part about all of this is that the tranny shop tried to tell me some BS about the tranny had to break in~ at that point I knew he was trying to grease me for something. Turned out to be 1st to 2nd and vice versa. At $4500.00 this biatch is going to be in the shop until she rides like a new car! (Man I love this forum...Thanks Maximers!
