Pics of my Newly Powercoated E&G and 285 width tires.
Just posting the lastest mods that I've done to the maxima.
Below are pics of the newly powder-coated E&G grille and my 285/30/20 tires in the rear. I will get some really good pics of the rear so that you guys can see how FAT these tires really are. https://i189.photobucket.com/albums/...house025-1.jpg https://i189.photobucket.com/albums/...ewhouse037.jpg https://i189.photobucket.com/albums/...ewhouse027.jpg 275/30/20 next to the 285/30/20 tires. https://i189.photobucket.com/albums/...ewhouse001.jpg https://i189.photobucket.com/albums/...ewhouse016.jpg |

no emblem. looks nice as it is
|
wow thats a fat tire lol... any rubbing issue or nah?
|
can we see some up-close shots of the grille? Your max looks freakin hot...IMO I wouldnt put an emblem on the grille b/c the blacked-out theme is so aggressive...from experience I would have to say that those Nexen N3000 tires are actually bigger in all dimensions than equivalent sized tires from a different manufacturer. My 235 40 18 Nexens (new tires) are visibly wider than my 235 General Exlcaim UHPs and were also wider than my Kumho Ecstas. In terms of sidewall...the "40 series" from Nexen is also visibly thicker than the sidewall of the General Exclaim with both tires at 40psi...congrats on the buy though the whip looks great
|
your ride is freakin sexy! wheels look sick!
|
That is definitely a beautiful ride! The grille looks just fine like that I think. Looks sporty and aggressive. While talking about sporty, looking at your car with the body kit and all, I can't see a spoiler. I think you need one, PRONTO!
|
looks great!
|
Looks great. I just put new Nitto Invo's on mine 245/40/18. I wanted to go wider, but I was worried about rubbing.
|
I don't think an emblem is needed on such a clean setup man! Great job!
|
Very, very nice ride....I never used to be a fan of the 6th gen but your car makes me think otherwise. Nice job bro!!!!
|
Looks good, bro- real good! btw, +1 for NO emblem.
|
that thing is sick!! yeah no emblem and i def wouldnt do a spoiler. looks super clean adn aggresive as is.
|
wow the grille looks awesome man! 285? holy sh*t! didnt' think it was possible on a 6th gen. Looks really hawt man...
|
Damn...that **** looks mean. Great job. The front end is super sleek. If you DO get a spoiler, get a trunk lip spoiler. Nice n subtle...I wouldnt put a wing on it.
Once again, great looking car. |
Thanks alot guys!! I did so much research too see if the 285(s)
would fit the rear of our 6thgens. Couldn't find any 6th gens with this size tire on the rear. So I check some other forums and they suggested 285/25/20. But I did want that low of a profile. So, I did what I always do when in a situation like this. JUST DO IT!!! If it doesn't work try something else. It was the same situation with 20x10s all around. So many ppl said that will never work. Wrong!!! I worked out fine! I do have to add that the front wheel well lining or cover has to be slightly adjusted and rear quarter panels were shaved 1/4 to 1 inch down to make sure there wasn't any scrubbing or rubbing. And that was performed over 3 years ago when I had 3 sets of 22s and two sets of 20s. A friend of mine is a master fabricator/ mechanic that has taught me many things about cars over the years. So the slight adjustments/fabricating is extremely minor and can be perform right in your garage. Honestly!!! Takes about 5 to 8 mins per wheel well. I'll take better pics today while the suns out. http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...ewhouse027.jpg |

You are worried about rubbing at 245/40/18? That is even smaller than stock which is 245/45/18. I am due for a new set of tires in a couple of months, and I have on laway at discount, Goodyear Eagle F1 all season 255/40/18. That should look sporty and aggressive with the thread design. I originally wanted to do 265/40/18, but I am a little concern it might rub. But with people going to 285, though a bigger rim, I think our cars can suck it up and not rub. To each his own, though As for me, I will be rolling on the 255/40/18 in about 3 months. |
255/40/18 on oem rims? whats the most you can go on oem rims? i believe its 18x7.5 ?
|
I love the tires. Maybe I will get to see them in person, I am driving down to Plantation, Fl on Wed. for 3 weeks.
|
looks fking sick bro :doublethu
and leave the grill as is - I agree with a bunch of the guys - it looks amazing as is buddy - great job!! |
I love what you did with the wheels and the car in general...it's very mucho caliente!
Or as we say here in Montréal: C'est tres chaud! Cheers! http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n...SELowered2.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/Check020.jpg Happy Motoring~ |

If you haven't gotten new sets yet, men check out this size before putting your 245/45/18 back on. Go to your local discount tire or other tire store and talk to them. I will post pics when I put my new tires on in a couple of months. |

Question on your grill, I have a similar grill setup but the A/C condensor / radiator has a silver finish so at certain angles you can see the silver behind the grill. I was thinking of spraying the radiator black. Have you noticed the same problem.

I never had that problem with silver colors being exposed from the radiator @ certain angles. But there is a paint that you can use on the radiator so you don't clog it up. Some other high temp paints cause clogging problems. Check this paint out. http://www.eastwood.com/ew-radiator-...in-finish.html http://www.eastwood.com/media/catalo...72d/p13708.jpg |
Thanks for the advise. You only notice the silver when you get close up to the car. I posted some pictures in the photo gallery (TarmacSL1). These don't show the silver.

I will post pics when I put my new tires on in a couple of months. To the OP: what tire size are you running in the front? 285 is very impressive; I'm hoping to squeeze some 265s onto mine...with the right offset I doubt it'll be much of a problem. I have 20 mm spacers with a tire that's much larger than stock on my car right now and with a little fender modding it works just fine. |
Can't say I like the wheels, but I love the rest of the car, especially the front end. One of the best looking 6th Gens I've seen.
|
That looks HOT!!!
|
AND HE HAS DONE IT AGAIN!CROSSING NEW THRESHOLDS TO TAKE THE MAX TO PLACES NO ONE HAS GONE BEFORE... lmao.. good job, AND I was worried about throwing the 265/30/20 on that 10 inch wheel...silly me...if you have any extra tires let me know...275 0r 265

Question on your front to rear tire diameter (ABS error code???)
First off, your ride looks sick...great job!
I have a 07 SE and I just put wheels on it but have a slight problem. I put 20X8.5 on front & 20X9.5 on rear, with 245/35-20 on front and 285/30-20 on rear. (I can send you some pics if you give me your e-mail) They look great, but I have some rubbing in the rear when turning corners (normal driving, not hard cornering). I'm not really wanting to do any fabricating under the rear wheel well. I'm thinking about going down to a 275/30-20 to get rid of the rubbing but this will make the rear diameter .25 inch less than the front tires (I'm concerned with the ABS sensors triggering an error code with the different diameter from front to rear). I saw that you were running 275/30-20s before so I wanted to know what you were running on the front with those (245/35-20???), if you had any issues with ABS error codes from different tire diameters, and if you had any rubbing with the 275/30-20s (or did you have to fabricate to make the 275s work as well?)? Thank you very much for any assistance, Chris |
Hey man, thanks for the comment on the ride.
I currently have 275/30/20 on the front and 285/30/20 in the rear with absolutely "NO RUBBING" what-so-ever. I did shave a very small section off the inner quarter panels to make sure I obtained excellent clearance. I know alot of guys here don't want to DIY on some projects, but this was extremely easy. Maybe took me 3 to 5 minutes per side and most of that time was making sure it was precise. If your not comfortable with 285's then stick 275/20/30 for the rear. The wheel offset is a huge factor in this situation as well. Make sure if your going 20x10 in the rear that you don't go below +38 for comfort/clearance. I have a pic of when I shaved the rear quarter panel before touching it up. It came out really clean once it was all complete. OH! Before I went 285's in the rear I had 275's all around. This is right after I shaved off some of that thin piece of metal on the quarter-panel. http://forums.maxima.org/private.php...pm&pmid=940335 |
Hey,
thanks for the information...many thanks. Did have a couple follow on questions though. I tried using that link to see the picks of the trimmed fenderwell, but I got the invalid link message...do you have the pics where you can e-mail them to me?(my e-mail addy should be in your pm folder). What did you use to trim the fender, how much did you trim off, and what did you use to seal/touch up for corrosion prevention/appearance? Did you have to trim it to get the 275s under there or just the 285s? (my back wheel is 20X9.5 with a 35 offset and I believe the lower the offset the further out the wheel is, right?) So with 9.5 and 35mm in back, do you think the 275 would fit without trimming? I might be more willing to try the trimming of the fender than the rolling (sounds more effective and less dangerous, as far as bending visible part of fender accidentally) could you pm or e-mail me an a-z on doing the trimming (with a pic or 2)? Also, FYI I did put a few pics of my car up in the photo gallery (look for Chrisb's Maxima) thanks again, Chris |
This car is maaaaddd tight. I'm really feeling it. What kind of rims are those?
|
Nice!! feeling the grille!
|
Seeing as how many of you been to body shops and had some kind of paint job on your cars. I am about to get my hood done. To get some rock chip repair and match my cars color. They want to charge me like $350-$400
how much you guys think adding some graphics to the hood would run ? And am I paying to much $350+ for rock chip repair. The chips are all over the hood. And parts of the fenders. So I think its time to do this. Any options or ideas or am I getting ripped off ? They claim to do quality work, |
looks real nice
|
Not a fan of chrome, but I'm liking the 275/285 combo. :) The front end is nice too.
