TPMS questions...

I'm fixing to buy some wheels and tires for my 08 max and found out that getting the TPMS would put me at $59 extra for each tire...is there anything i can do to go around and not buy the TPMS...

maybe nitrogen?...or any other suggestions you guys have would be great.

thanks in advance

Cant you use your existing tpms? i am not running Nitrogen but i switched over to the M45 sprot rims and jus used my factory ones from the max and have no issues

Also Why Nitrogen? whats wrong with plain old AIR

not sure if you could use the orig TPMS...are they pretty easy to swap out?

the reason for the nitrogen is because some people on the g35 forums were talking about it how the nitrogen hardly comes out compared to air

Ok, nitrogen does have its pro's and Con's i will say hat, pro's longer life maybe a better ride, Con's for me not many places have it if you do run low and the cost more substantial than regular air.

Now if you really want nitrogen, heres what i sugges you do. Call the dealer and see if your oem tmps can work wiht Nitrogen, if so you are good to go, if not your call on the new sensors.

they are super easy to swap out, on our maximas all you need is a socket, its just like a bolt. i sat there and watched the guy do it, they charged for it saying its extra work, but really it was just like putting on a valve stem. if i were you, i would just go and get air and save your money for more mods.

good luck

I have an 08 and yes, you can swap out the OE sensor to the new rims. Discount tires did it when I bought my MoMo's from them. All they had to do was replace the old "O" rings with fresh ones.

As for the air, I wouldn't waste money with nitrogen. O2 is almost 80% nitrogen.

Yea you can take the exisiting tpms from your old rims n put it on your new ones. The only thing is if you wanna put back your old rims on... you either have to buy a set for those rims or take em off the new rims & put them back on your old rims.

The OE TPMS sensors work perfectly with nitrogen.

My '07 Max came with nitrogen filled tires (and green tire valve caps) when I bought it new from the dealership. This is just another ploy some dealerships use to get a few more $$ out of customers. I told them I refused to pay extra for the nitrogen so the dealership ate any cost on that.

While there are some (minor) advantages to nitrogen filled tires, it hardly seems worth the money or bother to me. I'm not going to keep a nitrogen tank in my garage or drive to the dealership or a tire store everytime I need to top off the pressure in my tires.
