What's funny is that you did it in the subject line as well...

Wish I could help, I've never had the noob off...

This is the way to remove the shift know. You can check the pin if its seated properly or if it its stretched out. When removing the aluminum cone, make sure you are turning it and pulling it down at the same time for removal. If you need an aftermarket know, I have a MoMo shift know that I'm selling

noob, as in knob i assume

So I took it apart. the bottom chrome piece has a broken tab inside, so its not on completely on the knob, so its loose a bit.. other than that, the knob itself, when pressed firmly on the arm, its solid, but i can't get the pin on b/c the little slots where the pins locks into isnt visible.. I have to raise the knob a bit to be able to click the pin in-place.. therefore, its loose.. so im thinking of packing something inside the knob so it sits firmly on the arm..

My knob has been loose since we purchased the vehicle... not a huge annoyance but I don't like when stuff is loose or creaky =\

loose

this seems to maybe be fairly common. I just bought my maxima with 55K miles on it, and the knob is really loose on it. they are going to replace it though.
